@daniel_lorn I loved Res 7 and Village. As well as the remake of 4, though haven't tried 2 out yet. Really looking forward to playing this.

This game has taken up my writing time over the past two weeks! Although I didn't enjoy it as much as RE2 or RE4, it’s still a fantastic game for fans of the series, offering a brilliant blend of action and survival horror. Now... onto some writing!

My writing style changes drastically every few years. It's very strange. I'm less poetic now and more minimalist at the moment. I wonder how long that will last. Do any other writers here feel their styles change periodically?

@HorrorOfMike I will be giving Leaving D.C. a go. My go-to comfort horror movie is Race With The Devil, which is criminally overlooked in my humble opinion.

What's one horror film you've watched that you believe is criminally underrated? I'm looking for something good to watch! If I had to recommend one to you, it would be Leaving D.C. It's a pretty obscure found footage movie but really great.

@HorrorOfMike The Rule of Jenny Pen with John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush is good. Unsurprisingly it's very well acted.

@HorrorOfMike Here is some I have seen recently that I think are pretty good. The first one is supernatural horror, the other three are slashers.

@MFurgal Cheers, Marty. I might do a bit of experimenting and try a few different places, see what seems worthwhile. Thanks for the advice :)

@HorrorOfMike I think sub stack or Reddit would be the best places. While you might not get the reach you want this site has become a cesspool of bots, and the worst humans imaginable. You could also do threads or depending on length insta.

I wonder if posting short stories straight to X would be worthwhile alongside coming back to Nosleep and creepypasta sites? It would involve getting X premium, which I know some frown upon. Does anyone have thoughts on this? Also considering starting a sub stack.

@Darkhero252 I see. I don't know enough about that to comment. I hope he wasn't involved in anything dodgy or has been very ill.

@HorrorOfMike General info; Creepypastajr got caught up in the storm around CreepsMcPasta, grooming allegations alongside Creeps led him to disappear from the internet. There's some claims he got majorly ill, and others that he's died, but almost nothing concrete that I can find currently.

Whatever happened to Creepypastajr? Anyone know? He was one of the first people to narrate my stories and even read a few lines for a short film I did. But it seems he hasn't uploaded in years. I hope he's okay.

@HorrorOfMike Just because something might not fit on Nosleep doesn't mean it's not good- it's probably really good, but their rules are really weird on what is and isn't allowed, or what constitutes as a story that fits their sub. There are other subs (like TalesFromTheCreeps) that might fit

I'm writing a Nosleep story that seems more thriller than horror. It leans into horror a little bit as it progresses, but I'm wondering if the subreddit won't be the right place for it.

@KingFreak2002 Thanks so much. It's been so long since I've released anything publicly, I don't know how many people will be interested. But I'm glad some will read :)

@SandyofCthulhu Starship Troopers shares the same satirical DNA with Robocop, and brilliantly so. Where Robocop satires rampant consumerism, Starship Troopers does the same but with fascism and a rampant military. Both show how easy it is for a society to lose all empathy.

Look, here's the thing about Verhoeven's Starship Troopers. I have no doubt that Verhoeven intended to make it somewhat satirical, jabbing at what he perceived to be fascist views. He completely failed, and here's why. He didn't seem to deliver this message to the team. The acting, cinematography, and editing all combined to make a pretty cool movie about alien bugs menacing Earth. I am sure even Verhoeven got into the film's concepts, and only afterwards did he realize that his best chance to seem "cool" at Hollywood cocktail parties was to pretend it was supposed to be a satire. After all, he didn't want to seem a Philistine like Michael Bay. Also the whole fascist thing seems pulled out of the blue. Why is his future Earth fascist? Its' military is completely volunteer. The world is in fact facing an existential threat - a foe which would Kill Every Human. You'd think some degree of militarization is in order. I think Verhoeven somehow mixed up "military" with "fascist". Though both are authoritarian, they're emphatically not the same thing. r I read Starship Troopers as a kid. When I went to see the movie, naturally I expected the powered armor of the book and saw it nowhere. Did I care? A little. But pretty early on I just decided that Starship Troopers the movie was a fun movie about fighting enemy bugs and had little or nothing to do with the book. So how I can enjoy the movie AND the book on totally different grounds. In the same way that I can enjoy reading Leiber's Fafhrd & the Gray Mouser and still watch the movie Conan. They're not the same.
