Actually it’s her knowledge of the game, her work ethic, and the respect our players have for her that landed her the job. There are plenty of Hall of Fame coaches out there that didn’t play the particular sport they coach. To be blunt, she’s earned everything!

2025 SC American Legion Baseball State Champions! Richland Post 215

Myth 4: “Legion is old school and outdated.” Reality: Legion just celebrated its 100th Anniversary. Over half of MLB Hall of Famers played Legion ball. Legion remains one of the largest amateur baseball programs focused on player development, leadership, & affordability.

Why Legion? Myth 2: “College coaches don’t watch Legion ball.” Reality: Scouts & coaches recruit where talent plays not just where the most expensive uniforms are. Legion schedules include state tournaments, regionals, and nationals that get scouting attention. @MOLegionBall

Myth 3: “The more expensive the team, the better the opportunity.” Reality: Many travel teams charge $2,000–$5,000+ /season & promise exposure Legion fees are fraction & include insurance, tournament pathways, & community support. Money doesn’t create talent.

Each year we come into the season with the goal of winning a State Championship. Today we have the opportunity to achieve this goal as we play Yeager Benson in the State Championship. We need to just win one of possibly two games today. First Pitch set for 10 AM!!!!!!

Why Legion? Myth 1: “Travel teams guarantee college scholarships.” Reality: Fewer than 2% of all high school players at NCAA Division I. colleges find players through high school and summer including Legion. Coaches care more about skill, grades, and character than the jersey

Richland Senior Team wins 1st round playoff series vs a tough Horry Legion team and advances to the Elite 8 State Tournament and will play Friday vs a team TBD

Bracket is set. Horry will travel to Richland Post 215 on Monday for game 1 of best of 3 series.
