Final #BlackHistoryMonth feature! Rep. Ronald G. Waters served Philadelphia from 1999 to 2015. He was the prime sponsor of Act 50 of 2007 which allowed midwives to provide and assist in medical care during pregnancy. Following the House, Waters was involved in his local ward.

#BlackHistoryMonth feature is Shirley Kitchen! Rep. Kitchen was elected to the House during a special election in 1987. She worked for the Philadelphia Parking Authority and then for the Philadelphia City Council. Kitchen then served in the Pennsylvania Senate from 1997 to 2016.

#BlackHistoryMonth Mitchell Melton served Philadelphia in the House from 1969 to 1972. He was one of the original Members of the @PALegBlkCaucus He was the sponsor of a large package of bills that included lowering the age of jury members from 21 to 18.

Happy #BlackHistoryMonth
Hobson Reynolds served Philadelphia in the House during the 1935 and 1939 terms. During his second term he was the sponsor of legislation that became Act 132 of 1935 which was one of the first civil rights bills in PA History.

**Drum Roll** Our 2026 exhibit "Keystone of America" will officially open on Tuesday January 27! This exhibit explores the 1826, 1876, 1926, and 1976 celebrations and Pennsylvania’s role in the anniversaries. There will also be a souvenir item for visitors! We hope to see you!
