How would Abraham Lincoln view the people who attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021?
"Lincoln would see Americans," historian Matthew Pinsker told PBS News' @GeoffRBennett. "Even though he clearly would have thought Jan. 6 was an insurrection, or an attempted insurrection, he would still think of them with malice toward none and try to find a way to reconnect, to persuade, to rebind that union that was shattered."
Pinsker, who has spent much of his professional life studying Lincoln, spoke to Bennett for the latest episode of PBS News' podcast, "Settle In." He discussed his new book, "Boss Lincoln," and why Lincoln's legacy is now more important than ever.
