Recycling is important because it helps to reduce the production of new materials, which in turn reduces our carbon footprint. It also has an environmental impact by reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and incinerators.

Our heavy trash cleanup effort remains underway across Houston. Solid Waste crews and contractors collected more than 2,025 tons last week as we continue addressing areas throughout the city.

Heavy trash cleanup continues across Houston. With contractor support now in place, our teams have collected more than 2,696 tons of heavy trash. This effort is making a noticeable difference in neighborhoods across the city, and even more progress is on the way.

⚠️ Medians are NOT dumping zones. Illegal dumping puts drivers, crews, and neighborhoods at risk. Do the right thing.

🚫♻️ Do NOT place butane canisters in recycling bins. They can explode and cause serious injuries and damage to equipment. Dispose of them safely at an Environmental Service Center, free of charge.
