School education new year’s honours list. Why are CEOs of Trusts being awarded honours at the expense of the most important people in school education, Headteachers?

And let’s all watch our unions roll over as usual and simply allow Ofsted to continue as if nothing has happened. Pathetic

@Carter6D Ofsted has had its day…..nearly 30 years old and despite the different frameworks it is not fit for purpose. We need a new accountability framework that has school improvement at its heart.

About time that ASCL, NAHT, NEU and all other unions stood up to this government and told their members not to cooperate with any Ofsted inspections until further notice.

@LeoraCruddas @SchoolsWeek But we need to allow school collaboratives to develop in their own way rather than saying the only form of collaboration is through the MAT model.

I don't think this is quite right @SchoolsWeek - but I also don't think the 2030 ambition is the important point. We need to focus now on making the purpose-driven and values-driven case for the power of a group of schools working together in deep and purposeful collaboration.
Schools Week@SchoolsWeek

The DfE's 2030 ambition for all schools to be in or in the process of joining a MAT is dead But ministers still hope to see change 'over time', and @LeoraCruddas said it was 'encouraging to see the government renewing its commitment to the sector' schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-ditches-tw…

@SchoolsWeek @amyrwalker MATs should look to cutting at the centre and reducing the top slice for their schools rather than cutting at the front line.

‘We’re not a school that turns people away, but we’re going to be at a point where we have to’ As 2 in 5 leaders warn they'll have to consider staff cuts to fund pay rises next year, heads spoke to @amyrwalker about the difficult decisions they face schoolsweek.co.uk/a-race-to-the-…

@johntomsett Grading schools, like Ofsted, is wrong and outdated. We need a new accountability framework that genuinely has school improvement at its heart

One of the problems when OFSTED claims it knows “what you’re up against” is that it doesn’t account for inept or downright malicious inspectors, who exist despite the inspectorate's claims to the contrary. It seems unfair to be grading schools in the current circumstances.

@GuardianEdu And this sums up what is wrong with education in England. Those supposedly leading education nationally have absolutely no idea what it is like to work in a school.

@Beka_Staples Very good but how does this tweet help Heads who are not so sure footed, who are anxious and who have not done as much as you? All your tweet does is to make them feel worse. (I am a retired Head.)

Am I the only person who feels that ASCL, NAHT and the teacher unions have had absolutely no impact on government education policy throughout the pandemic?

I wish that schools in England would not celebrate publicly any results this summer and thereby show solidarity with those schools so badly treated by the travesty and farce that the government has created.

Cancel all SATs, GCSEs and A levels. Announce this now. Use school based assessments this year. Rely on the integrity of our teachers.
