This, coupled with Lehman's barnstorming of the state, and a general pro-Dem environment combined to bury Moses — who in addition to this election had only sought one office prior (NYC Mayor in 1933), held power continuously until 1968 would never seek elective office again.

@JoshForNY Well, not totally; from time to time, Stone has been caught spreading Salacious accusations which have to be true; while this is not his preference, it's happened now and then

It’s disturbing to see how many people (largely, Blue MAGA) are blaming Roger Stone for the accusations about Eric Swalwell. Complete brain rot, folks.

ברוך דיין האמת Saddened by the passing of former Congressman Eliot Engel, who devoted his life to our nation. Honored to have known him throughout my life in public service. Kind, generous, deep integrity, and always supportive of the next generation to serve.

In Assembly District 38, the Queens County Democratic Party carried joint petitions for congressional candidate Antonio Reynoso and Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar. They each face opponents backed by DSA (Claire Valdez and David Orkin, respectively)

Reminds of when, back in 2010, The Forward and Ben Smith (who is Jewish) should know better than to made fun of Carly Fiorina for using the term “breaking bread” to describe a Seder. Now, I dislike Fiorina and her politics intensely, but the Forward and Smith both surely knew that, during the Seder, we say the Motzi (thanking G-d for giving us bread from the earth) before we eat the matzah. We say of matzah: "this is the poor bread, the bread of affliction." By every religious definition, matzah is bread. And there is surely no bread that breaks more frequently than matzah

Julie Menin has to be the richest person who ever served in the City Council. Only other super-wealthy member I remember Mark Gjonaj, who'd self-finance his campaigns. levernews.com/the-quiet-fort…

Biggest political mistake Zohran Mamdani has made so far was threatening to raise property taxes. Whether it's a good idea or not, it's politically TOXIC and also had no chance of happening. City Council wouldn't pass it. And he clearly just wanted to use it as a negotiating ploy

@lyndonbajohnson Max's description is wrong. UES fought to keep that district so they could dominate a district of their own rather than sharing one with UWS, which has more votes in a Dem primary.

The UES is thought of as classic old money New York. However, between 1st Avenue and the FDR is a bunch of huge apartment buildings with cheapish rents (for Manhattan) and few amenities. Its mostly nurses and normal folks who do have more in common with Astoria than the UWS. -OS
Max@maxtmcc

this district existed throughout much of NYC’s history, basically until 2022! It died *despite* the resistance of the Upper East Side, which insisted that at the end of the day, it was more similar to Astoria than the Upper West Side, a fascinating look into the New York mind

Some people get into politics because they don’t have an identity or a real voice so they use the seat to create something they never had. Others get in because they put in the real work for community & want to amplify voices not heard or protected. Which one are you?

Depends upon what type of signatures you're getting. I've seen races where one candidate with over 1500 indifferently gathered street signatures goes down like a repentant husband on Mother's Day, while another candidate with barely 600 door to doors gathered from a list of registered party members survives.

Anyone settling for <1000 signatures in races with a 500 threshold is rolling the dice. With dubious court challenges like last years @LincolnRestler V. @sabrinagates @AMBichotte — any decently powered campaign is seeking the 1200-1500+ range, ideally Candidates, how are your numbers stacking up this year? #petitionseason 🗳️✍️☘️

@bri_guy_ny which why it was repeated only about 100,000 times, not counting the Russian bots but you're right that it was as unimportant about this thing, why makes me wonder why you are mad enough about it to waste your time commenting about it

Assuming facts not in evidence. What makes you think if he hadn't started a war, Trump would spend this money on healthcare instead? In fact, we can say with certainty that, as a result of this war, more Americans are receiving government provided single payer healthcare than would have occurred otherwise.
