My father was the greatest man I ever knew. If you knew him, you knew what it felt like to be cared for.
He taught me never by telling me how to be, but by showing me. He was always kind even when kindness wasn’t easy. He was gentle in moments that would have broken others. He loved unconditionally and generously, and he made it look effortless.
I know there are so many people feeling this loss right now… people he looked after, people he made laugh, people whose hard days got easier just because he was there. That was his gift. He didn’t know how rare it was. He just thought he was being normal.
He wasn’t. He was exceptional.
I’m so grateful he was my father. I’m so proud to be his son. I’ll miss you every day. But I’ll try to make you proud, by being a little more like you.

🚨🚨🇺🇸 USA Falls Off the Democracy Map. For the first time in 50 years, the United States no longer appears on the list of liberal democracies. In a single year, the country has fallen from 20th to 51st place. The V-Dem Institute calls it one of the most dramatic declines ever recorded. The fall does not happen in a vacuum. Brendan Carr is not among the most recognizable names in Trump’s orbit, but the head of the federal media regulator FCC made waves this weekend with a direct threat to the country’s broadcasters. Networks spreading what he called fake news were told they have an opportunity to correct course before their license renewals come up. The message was plain enough: fall in line, or face the consequences. Staffan Lindberg, founding director of the V-Dem Institute, is blunt about what this means. Across so many dimensions, the retreat has been so severe that the United States can no longer be counted as a democracy. The term he uses is “electoral autocracy” – a system without genuine democracy that still goes through the motions of holding elections. Like Putin’s Russia. What concerns him most: the assault on free speech, illustrated by the FCC chief’s latest threat. An extreme concentration of power in the president’s hands. A Congress that, in Lindberg’s words, has abdicated. I have read Search and Seizure Warrant against The Lodge in full, and it does appear to be a witch hunt.
Essentially, they're deeming poker in TX illegal and therefore classifying what we'd consider normal banking transactions as money laundering because it's proceeds from what they say is illegal gambling.
All the undercover operations outlined in the affidavit describe a normally functioning, well-run poker room.
To me, nothing in it suggests what we in the poker world would consider scandalous/nefarious, but rather authorities simply taking a stance on the grey area/loophole that they consider illegal.
If the TABC ultimately prevails that poker at The Lodge constitutes illegal gambling, it’ll shut down every room in TX.
