A different gospel? The LDS gospel and the Christian gospel sound similar, but we ultimately mean different things. Mormon apologist Jacob Hansen and I each present what we believe is the true Good News:

@johnmilbank3 For onlookers, this is what people mean when they say “progressivism will hollow out your religion and wear it like a skinsuit.” This is like Stage 4 of that.

Christians must seek wisdom to understand what is really behind this horrifying explosion in political violence. There is only ONE thing that can fix what is wrong with mankind — and it's certainly not this godless ideology. (Clip feat. @davidnasser)

INCREDIBLE word from @davidnasser tonight at Lakepointe Church. Never underestimate what God can and will do through your small acts of service and obedience. Look at the lengths God was willing to go just to save Pastor Nassar 🙏🙏🙏

@ProphetUnaziO @howertonjosh These two things can be true simultaneously: 1. Only God can fix the root of man's problems. 2. Some politicians/parties are less evil than others. #1 does not erase #2

Politics are important, but listen to me: Politics cannot fix what politics did not break. And Mankind was broken long before any political system. Only a return to Jesus Christ who can reach inside the chests of men and give them new and living hearts of love, worship, and humility can save any person, any family, and any society. Christ is the only way out of the chaos.

@howertonjosh So, to be clear, you don’t know the motive? And, instead of being slow to speak you jumped on the narrative to push identity politics?

Political violence is a feature, not a bug of progressivism. Because progressivism is built on top of a Critical Theory lens that sees the world through "Oppressed vs Oppressor" categories rather than a Christian Theology lens of "Right vs Wrong", it trains people to see opponents not as mistaken, but as evil oppressors. If you believe someone is mistaken, you try to persuade them (what @charliekirk11 did). If you believe someone is an evil oppressor ("literally Hitler!", "fascist", "existential threat to democracy", virtually everything and everyone is "racist"), you will feel a moral obligation to stop them. This is why there is radically disproportionate violence emerging on the Left.

@TheStenCell Yes. We *do* need to vote for the set of policies most in line with Biblical ethics and theology of the role of the government, but the best that can do is restrain evil and create conditions by which good can advance. It cannot eliminate evil or actualize good.

More info shedding light on what seems like an obvious politically-motivated action Again, the OP is simply helping connect the dots between why what the Left has become since it was hijacked by radical secular progressivism is marked by significantly disproportionate political violence. It is the logical conclusion of the worldview

NEWS: new info on the WHCD shooting suspect, Cole Allen, from the White House. I'll be talking with President Trump about all of this in 30 minutes on @SundayBriefFNC The suspect’s written manifesto clearly stated he wanted to target administration officials. He also had a ton of anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric on his social media accounts. ALLEN's brother had notified New London PD (CT) of ALLEN's alleged manifesto he had sent to his family members prior to the incident.   Secret Service and Montgomery County Police interviewed Avriana Allen, ALLEN’s sister, at their residence in Rockville, MD. The following highlights from the interview: •Allen said her brother had a tendency to make radical statements and his rhetoric constantly referenced a plan to do “something” to fix the issues with today’s world. •Confirmed ALLEN purchased two handguns and a shotgun from Cap Tactical Firearms and kept them stored at their parent’s home and that their parents were unaware that ALLEN was keeping the firearms in the home. •ALLEN would regularly go to the shooting range to train with his firearms •ALLEN was part of a group called ‘The Wide Awakes’ •ALLEN attended a ‘No Kings’ protest in California at some point

My original post was about how what progressivism has become leads to political violence. The shooter was at the very least aligned with the modern progressive movement in some sense (he/him pronouns in bio, donated to progressive political candidate, California teachers’s union guy, etc) + he attempted the highest form of political violence (presidential assassination) Hope that helps make sense of why this is relevant, friend

@howertonjosh Here we have a pastor with absolutely zero knowledge of the shooter’s motive trying to intentionally sow division by pushing his own political ideology. Tells you everything you need to know about his priorities. Truth be damned as long as you score some social media points.

In retrospect, it may be hard to overstate the significance of how this affected evangelicalism. For about 10 years, anyone who warned that progressivism was an symmetrical threat to Christians and society were shouted down or laughed at by people, pointing to Charlottesville or tiki torch marches as evidence that “white supremacy is actually an equal or greater threat to society than progressivism.” Those moments were used to “balance the equation” But, it turns out that not only were they in a meaningful sense manufactured, but progressivism was not only to blame for it’s obvious evils, but for many of the highest profile “examples” of the evil that was alleged to come from “the other side“

Hey @howertonjosh! We just worshipped with you and the Lakepointe Family live for the second time to hear the incredible message by @davidnasser (truly one of the most meaningful messages I have ever heard)! We are originally from California and have been traveling in France, Ireland and England for the past year, worshipping with Lakepointe Church online. We found you through Live Free when Charlie Kirk was martyred last year and have been listening ever since. It was a pleasure meeting you this afternoon: you made our 7-year-old son’s month when you shook his hand and took a selfie with him! If you have the photo, he would love to see it! We are moving to England on Monday! We will continue to worship with Lakepointe Church and listen to Live Free while we find a local church community. God has blessed our family through you and the team: we are so thankful.

The Wesleyan Quadrilateral isn't a ranking. It's a methodological framework for Christian theological reflection... You weigh all four equally, though Scripture is still supposed to hold the highest authority (no one abuses this like modern UMC folks, though). -Start with Scripture as the foundational authority. -Use Tradition (church history and teachings) to provide context and guard against novelty. -Apply Reason to think clearly and logically. -Incorporate Experience (personal and communal encounters with God) to make it living and relevant. I used to be Nazarene and lots of them talk about this a lot...

How can Protestants exclude Church Councils as an authority for "sola scripture" if they are relying on a Biblical cannon chosen by a council through a tradition? @DrFrankTurek @howertonjosh Serious question from a Christian searching for a denomination.
