I need everyone reading this to stop. Right now. Close your eyes, fold your hands & bow your heads. McLaren is in an uncontrollable amount of pain. She is admitted in the hospital and nothing they’re doing is touching her pain. Her parents are wrecked. I’m wrecked. There is no justice in what has been done to her. I know her cancer is evil. But it didn’t have to be this way so soon. She was fast tracked to the condition she is in. And no one can convince me otherwise because I witnessed the rapid and dramatic decline that happened. She came out of that radiation a different child than she was when she went in and her parents will be the first to attest to that. But even if it’s the truth, I am not going to let this turn into a post about how the system failed her. I can’t think of anything else to do to help other than to beg every person on this page to pray RIGHT NOW. McLaren isn’t getting a shred of physical relief. She is stuck in constant torment and agony right now and it sickens me to think of the way her parents must be feeling as I write this. I genuinely cannot even imagine. My soul is broken for my friends; for McLaren. My gut tells me this isn’t going to turn around, there’s just been too much damage. But can we please pray for them to just get her pain under control? Where shes at is the only place that has the ablility to help her pain. Myself and MANY OTHERS are going to continue to fight SO HARD because of what we have seen happen to this little girl and her parents. I swear we are going to find a way to change things somehow. And I’m not EVER going to let the world forget about McLaren and her story. God PLEASE TAKE THIS INNOCENT LITTLE GIRL’S PAIN WITH THE TOUCH OF YOUR CAPABLE HAND. Please comfort her and her parents who have fought every day to just make it to one more. AND PLEASE HELP US TO COME TOGETHER AND BRING THIS DISEASE SOME DESPERATELY NEEDED CHANGE. Struggling to not cry while writing this. Sadly, our 10 year old Golden Retriever, Winston, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. It is not survivable. I got Winston at the lowest point in my life, and in so many ways, he saved me. I was an alcoholic, single, so so depressed. I was a bitter, angry, selfish person. ...and I knew it So upon recommendation of a friend, I got Winston. And he changed my fucking life. I learned structure. I learned how to talk to strangers. I went outside every day on runs and walks. He gave me the discipline to wake up early. He gave me a reason to not stay out late. I learned that doing the right thing daily is what changes you, slowly. And because Winston needed me, I started becoming someone worth needing. But then, he didn't just become my dog. He became my wife's dog. My kid's dog. And he loved them with the passion of a thousand fiery suns. And I don’t think I’ll ever be able to explain what it means to watch a dog learn to love your kids as much as you do. He's the greeter. He's my shadow. A peacekeeper. The one constant, no matter what kind of day we’ve had. I'm gonna miss you so much.
