@tompalmerauthor we are currently using your book Resist as part of our Year 6 Literacy learning as it continues our Curriculum journey with World War 2. We love the tension you have created within the story. We would love to ask you some questions!

World Book Day saw some great characters turn up at Hucklow Primary School. We had some great entries to our potato and design a scene competition. The reading café was also a big hit with children mixing year groups throughout the day.

Our Year 6 children had an amazing time exploring the different scenarios set out at Crucial Crew at the Lifewise centre. The learnt some incredible skills that they will take away with them. #crucialcrew #scenarios

Some of our Year 1 and Year 5 children were lucky enough to pair up and go tree planting in Longley Park. We were met by the Kids Plant Trees team and set about working in mixed year group pairs to plant a number of new saplings. #kidsplanttrees #y1y5

We had an amazing Safer Internet Day 2026. We shared our messages around the school and loved taking part in all the activities during the day. #saferinternetday2026

Our Year 5 children had a go at creating a piece of code to help create a game where a wizard moved to catch falling items. The children then got to have a go at playing the game after editing it. #catchinggame #purplemash

Final Beebot session... One pair even got to try out the interactive whiteboard challenge of getting the Beebot to the top of the map to the farm shop at the bottom. #beebots #coding

In Year 1 we have finished our Beebot coding unit and moved onto data handling in the form of pictograms. We ended our Beebot session with how far we could get the Beebot to travel without stopping. We then moved onto Pictograms, creating our own pictogram.

Having fun in the snow is one of the best things you can do on a school day right? At the start of this term we had a bit of snow. So our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils had some fun throwing snow balls, making snow angels and just experiencing the cold. We loved it! #snow #snowfun

We thank all our parents and families for a wonderful 1st full term of 2025 - 2026. We ended the term with our annual Christmas Jumper day. Merry Christmas and a very happy holidays. #Christmas2025

In year 1 as part of their PSHE learning, they created a set of paper chains with people they are thankful for. They had a lot of thoughts about who they would thank and why. #thankful #pshe #teachersfriendsandfamily

In year 5 they created their 2026 calendars. They created a four seasons image and chose either Pencil crayons or felt tips to decorate them. They then added their calendar tab and woollen handle to hang them at home. #calendar2026

In their computing lesson, Year 6 used their skills from their art lesson to try and create a piece of digital artwork based on one of LS Lowry’s paintings. We used the website Kleki.com to help us to create their piece of artwork.

Year 6 have been learning about the artist LS Lowry and attempted to recreate a version of one of his pieces of art. They started by recreating horizontal and vertical lines from a vanishing point. They then used these skills in their art work. #lslowry #art

As part of their PSHE lessons around germs and keeping healthy, Year 3 spent time looking at how washing our hands at different times helps fight off the germs. We experimented with glitter (as the germs), soap and water and followed the 20 second hand wash rule. #germs #pshe

In Year 6, we have been looking at Electricity as part of our Science lessons. We spent time researching renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and creating leaflets, building electrical circuits and then learning how to draw them. #science #electricity #futurescientists

Our Year 4 children have been lucky enough to experience what life was like in the Roman times with a visit from a real - life Roman. They looked at archeology boxes, spent time dressing as Roman soldiers and civilians, learnt the battle formation and shot arrows. #romans
