Why does your med take so long to fill at the pharmacy? I literally spent 20 minutes on the phone to resolve a drug/drug interxn. The only reason the NP prescribed that particular med was bc the patient forgot to update her new cardio meds with them. 🤦🏻♀️

@SarahAusti5775 @mecalnan Sorry but they don’t have access to the formularies. Sometimes during TPR (third party rejections), we’re given the names of the preferred drugs. Or we play the guessing game and see what’s covered so we’re prepared to make a rec when calling the doctor.

@Hufflepuff_RPh @mecalnan Whenever I talk to an independent pharmacist or cvs pharmacist, they are able to find that. Either they have the knowledge or they know where to look it up based on the plans. I can tell you that our EMRs don’t have that info, nor do I have access to their pharm benefits.

PSA: if your doctor tells you they don’t have any availability for an appt, it’s their responsibility to find another Dr that can see you in a timely manner.

@SarahAusti5775 @mecalnan So are you saying that we, as pharmacists, have the formulary info for all of our patients at our fingertips? Bc I’d LOVE that at my job. Guess I’m not a “good” pharmacist.

@mecalnan @Hufflepuff_RPh We do, but there are too many for us to know which med is covered at what tier, for the hundreds of different plans we see. The pharmacist has that info at his fingertips. A good pharmacist (a rarity) can help find what med is covered in the class you need for the treatment

I speak, and the customer says “what?!” Then I raise my voice and it changes to “don’t yell at me.” 🤷🏻♀️ and I’m just trying to be nice and tell him where the pumpkin seed oil is, which has NOTHING TO DO WITH PHARMACY.

Thank you to everyone for the support. We have finally heard from her husband. He was trying to break a window to get her out on Friday when the trailer was swept away. It crashed into a bridge & disintegrated as he watched, helpless. She's gone. #HurricaneHelene #grief #loss
