One of the subtitles of Proverbs 31 is “A wife of Noble Character”. It goes on to describe this woman as precious. There has been a lot of talk lately about the role of wives and there’s been an effort to paint a Christian wife as one-dimensional. However this chapter describes a fabulous woman- a woman who enriches the lives of her husband and her children. It describes a hard working woman who is smart and capable. A woman who first takes care of her family but also has profitable dealings in the community. A woman who not only provides for her family but reaches out to the poor in the community. It uses words like strength, dignity, wise, kind, and fearless to describe her. But vs 30 is the key. This woman FEARS THE LORD. That is the key! I have been blessed to have a wife like this. It appears that a woman who respects the Lord and follows Jesus can do a lot of things!
