Hull and District Trades Council

Yesterday Hull and District Trades council activists called a meeting to discuss the need for working class political representation, over 30 attended to discuss the vacuum that now exists on the left of British politics that is sadly being filled in part by Reform. ✊

Great turn out on this morning's #picket at @CottinghamHigh. Support from local @RMTunion was very welcome, as well as @HullTrades and some ex-students. Members are resolute in fighting redundancies, especially when the Trust has such healthy reserves. @eastridingNEU @NEUnion

Solidarity to the Maternity Support Workers in Grimsby fighting for back pay rightly owed to them. Day one of 14 days of strike action. These workers have been paid just above min wage for carrying out very important life saving/giving work and deserve our support ✊

@UnmaskedAntifa Around 40 people attended the attempted far right demo. After the far right caused a riot in our city we organised a democratic trade union led response to hold a positive demonstration for jobs homes and services for all. Our rally had circa 200 in attendance. Well done them.

Names to faces is what we all need, never let the far left get away with anything. This lot counter protested against Hull residents who are completely fed up of mass illegal immigration.

Far left thugs representing as @HullTrades stewards attempt to disrupt a protest against illegal immigration. The leftists wearing stewards high viz jackets are seen marching towards protesters without any intervention from on site police. It all seemed set up to me, another example of Two Tier policing. We would like to thank all who attended our rally today. We cannot allow far right views to take hold in our city. They are ultimately a threat to us all and our movement. We may have won today, but our message of jobs, homes and services for all is a fight we must continue.

A Leeds based fascist group (Rise of the Footsoldier) is trying to organise in Hull. We are holding a rally on Saturday to show we won’t stand for it in our city. We need workers unity for jobs and homes for all, not hatred and division. Please share and come along.

Hull and District Trades Council brining solidarity with the GMB Strikers in British Gas today. Trades Council will be supporting workers in their struggle against fire and rehire tactics. Unity Shop which will be there to provide support to strikers in need.

Last night Hull and District Trades Council passed a resolution reaffirming its opposition to the neo-liberal EU. Only working class solidarity nationally and internationally can meet the challenges workers face, protecting workers’ rights and standards of living. ✊
