In 2025, through the support of our funders, we made impact and implemented several projects. This year, we intend to deepen our work in capacity building, knowledge sharing, and addressing the human cost of conflict. youtu.be/pH1fPpYVaE0?si…

As part of our efforts to strengthen community journalism and human rights advocacy through the #SCOJA project, which is supported by @NLinNigeria, we paid a visit to the Department of Development and Strategic Communication at the University of Abuja. The engagement created an important platform for conversations about equipping the next generation of media professionals with the knowledge, ethical grounding, and practical skills needed to drive impactful storytelling and public-interest journalism. We look forward to beginning the work!

Several reporters and editors from various media organisations joined an X Spaces session hosted by @HumAngle_ on Saturday, May 9, to discuss the ethical dilemma that conflict reporters in Nigeria and across Africa face when deciding whether to provide financial support to their vulnerable sources. humanglemedia.com/should-journal…

In April, we introduced a radical anti-burnout policy—giving our reporters time to rest and recover. At HumAngle, we believe truth-telling shouldn’t come at the cost of those who tell it. What can you do to help? Support a newsroom that cares for its journalists. support.humanglemedia.com

What did security in Nigeria look like in the first quarter of 2026? Well, according to the #HumAngleTracker, 421 security incidents were recorded, which led to the death of over 1000 people. With the northwestern region being the worst hit, take a look at the numbers for each month by visiting the HumAngle tracker dashboard: humanglemedia.com/tracker/

Should a line exist between empathy and ethics, and if it should, where is it drawn? Join us tomorrow, 10 A.M., as journalists share real experiences and discuss the ethical dilemmas conflict reporters face in the field. Set your reminders: x.com/i/spaces/1PKqr…

During our visit to Kaduna State last month, we held a meaningful stakeholder engagement with Franco-British International University and Kaduna State University. We spoke extensively about integrating practical experience into the academic curriculum for journalism students across the country. Stay tuned for more updates!

Journalists are trained not to pay sources because it could risk distortion and affect credibility, but what happens when the people you are interviewing live in destitute conditions? @A_Salkida spoke to journalists in Nigeria about their experience with this ethical conundrum. He also spoke to journalism teachers. humanglemedia.com/ethics-under-f…

Between February and April 2026, our #SCOJA fellows in Kano State, with support from @NLinNigeria, led climate advocacy engagements in Gezawa LGA, raising awareness on desert encroachment and the growing risks of climate change within affected communities. They also held strategic engagements with the Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Arewa Women Initiative for Climate Change Advocacy & Environmental Sustainability. So far, they have strengthened collaboration on local climate action and community-driven solutions.

Incredibly proud of this project!
HumAngle Foundation@HumAngleFdn

With over 1,000 people reached through community-driven projects and nearly 200 hyperlocal stories, the #SCOJA project, funded by @NLinNigeria, continues to expand! Yesterday, we engaged in a reflection roundtable with some of our fellows. This activity provided an avenue for fellows to directly engage with our funding partner, showcase the impact of their activities, and shed more light on the dynamics of journalism in northern Nigeria.

From learning how to interview sources effectively to uncovering depth in storytelling and deepening their understanding of accountability journalism, the #SCOJA Fellowship, supported by @NLinNigeria, has truly delivered on its mission. Here’s what some of our fellows had to say about their experience.
