“These AI developers will keep stealing my and other writers’ words until a court finds it illegal, until the studios take action against this theft, and/or until policymakers require developers to negotiate and pay artists for use of our material..." latimes.com/entertainment-…

As expected, now that the Christie’s AI art auction is live it looks like a bunch of the works being sold were made using AI models trained on other artists’ works without permission. Christie’s is presumably taking a cut of sales. Why are they implicitly condoning - and profiting from - AI products being built in this way, by auctioning these works for tens / hundreds of thousands of dollars?

“Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says there are complex copyright questions around scraping data to train Al models, but he suggests the individual work of most creators isn't valuable enough for it to matter.”

A great chance to hear from the woman so powerful and effective that Reid Hoffman, Barry Diller (and several other billionaires) are doing everything they can to get her fired.

If you like Lina Khan and want her to continue to do amazing work at the @FTC , call your Senators, call the VP’s office, show your support asap! Word on the street is they might make a change at the FTC to cater to corporations, so let’s raise a stink because #WeDeserveLina

I think @jonstewart would be interested in this as he’s shown support for Lina Khan and her amazing work! Please raise your voice in support! I think you and your platform could ensure she remains in her position to continue to do great work! We all deserve someone as good as her
