@Hummingbirder I don’t think I could be bought for ten million. But I would consider a long term lease.

@myra_fleener That's cheaper than a doctor visit. I've had stitches in my arm (glass door), but I've never smashed my face on ice. Well, I've never gone ice skating. There was no place back home and we didn't trust the ponds.

@Hummingbirder My sister smashed her chin on that ice. Needed stitches. Mom gave her $10 if she let mom take them out. Mom had medical training and had steady hands. I held the desk lamp.

I liked putting together furniture better when it actually had instructions with actual words- that actually explained things. Not some dumbass pictures.

@Hummingbirder Watched the OG again over the weekend. Wish they'd clean up the print. Btw, ice-skating scene was filmed in Santa Monica. Grew up on that rink.

@1Nicdar There's a pro soccer team in Columbus called the Crew. They don't make much money, though. Our sports are more fun to watch, too.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I doubt if the United States will ever win a World Cup. Our top most elite athletes are already playing professional football or baseball, or other high paying professional sports.
Cynical Publius@CynicalPublius

A major reason soccer will never supplant America’s core professional sports is because we value physical bravery above all other attributes in our sports stars. Curt Schilling’s bloody sock. Ronnie Lott chopping off the tip of his finger so he could stay in the game. Mark Bavaro dragging half the 49ers’ secondary while his broken jaw was wired shut. Michael Jordan having the best game of his life with a 103 degree fever. Willis Reed limping onto the floor for Game 7. Lou Gehrig playing with ALS until his body said “no more.” Dave Dravecky pitching so hard that his arm had to be amputated. Kirk Gibson hobbling to the plate in the 9th. Tiger Woods winning the US Open on a knee that days later required reconstructive surgery. Kerri Strug sticking the landing on her busted ankle for the gold. Sure, we have our LeBron Jameses acting like little babies, but the one thing I learned about futbol during the World Cup is that acting like a little injured baby is not only not frowned upon, it is ENCOURAGED as a strategic advantage. Americans want stoic heroes who persevere through pain. Soccer ain’t that, at least not in the day-to-day elements of the game. That’s why soccer will never be anything other than second-rate in the USA.

@22liv22 It's like a Google wallet. They give you $25 if you open an account. But what if you get suspended? What happens to your money? No, thank you.

I have to say I’ve seen a number of people who I follow, have no paid partnerships, who liked the movie. I liked it too. But then again, I don’t really care about what actors think, their politics, their identities. I want to see a good story, well told and well acted. I think it’s all three.

It is absolutely depressing seeing people I follow post that they saw The Odyssey and loved it, and it's a paid partnership post. I've lost my faith in humanity. Or my judgment. One of them. Why do people sell out?

Now that the trip is almost over, I want to answer one of the questions we’ve been asked the most: “How are you guys able to afford a trip like this?” The answer is actually pretty simple. We saved up for this trip over the past year, and it wasn’t nearly as expensive as most people probably assume. We stayed mostly in budget hotels, and always split the cost between the three of us. Our flight to the US was also only 255€ for example. The biggest expenses were the rental cars and World Cup tickets. In total the 6 weeks here with everything combined probably cost around 6-7k (It‘s probably 6k but since we also saved money thanks to invitations like the hotel stay in Houston, let‘s say it would’ve been around 7k). I know that’s still a lot of money, but it’s nowhere near what some people seemed to think we were spending. We met other World Cup tourists who told us their trips cost more than $40,000. If you‘re ok with not living in luxury than travelling doesn‘t need to be this expensive. I’ll calculate the exact total once I’m back home.
