The girl allegedly started blackmailing and extorting Asiwaju, severely affecting his reputation and mental well being. Amid the growing controversy, his mother suffered a heart attack after learning about the allegations, an event he believed contributed to her death. Overwhelmed by the combination of public backlash, personal loss and emotional distress, Asiwaju tragically took his own life later that same year.
