@HockeyAlberta Fact of the matter is… they simply don’t care enough. Everything is deferred back to the local association and a copy and paste email is sent. They reached out to @HUSE59 for a comment in hopes that someone would actually care.

Yet another stock answer from @HockeyAlberta I wouldn’t expect anything to change there. They are worried about the cost of uniforms/arm bands but have no problem charging 13 years olds $150 to officiate. Lots of $$ for more staff and other initiatives…

Yet another unfortunate incident in another small town rink in Alberta. I spoke to a parent in a rink in Red Deer last weekend that didn’t think the level of yelling and abuse was “that bad” I guess I’m still trying to figure out what that line of acceptable yelling is…

We’ve got another 30 level one (15U) offficials signed up for a referee clinic tomorrow. I’m still left questioning how those numbers ($140 x 30) add up? @HockeyAlberta needs to lower this cost. Where is the money going? It’s not going back into our program. #showusthebooks

Referees and ref parents shouldn’t be $250 deep before they blow their first whistle. It’s simply not okay and it needs to be addressed. Something has to change.

Huge thanks to @EverActiveAB for supporting our first ever Grade 5 badminton extravaganza! We had over 200 students participate in a great night of badminton. With their help we were able to purchase 200 racquets and new birdies for schools to take back with them. #sportforall

@Huseby88 Cody do you have any stats how many coaches have been thrown out a second time or if behaviour was improved? Coaches receiving second and third game misconducts are subject to stronger punishment. I threw out a lot of coaches over the years rarely the same one twice.

Changing the culture is an extremely difficulty thing to do but something’s gotta give. Taking a stand and calling out this unacceptable behaviour is not an easy thing to do and I’ve witnessed firsthand the lack of support you receive. Unfortunately, MHA’s don’t want to draw

Sad commentary on the state of some hockey parents & coaches who cross the line with poor/foul language directed at Officials, esp young ones, during minor hockey games. Physical encounters should be prosecuted. No wonder CHA & USA Hockey official enrollment has dropped by 50%.
