Silk Roads everywhere!

It was a great pleasure to discuss Taxation in Umayyad Khurasan at the Near Eastern Studies Seminar Series. This room once hosted eminent scholars like Einstein, whose life story and work remind us of the value of universities in developing human societies.

It is interesting to note that Ali Sher Navayi's Persian poems also reflect the Neoplatonic idea of kingship. The organisers have published all papers in three volumes, including my article on Navayi's political thoughts.

It was a pleasure meeting scholars at Mir Alishir Navayi's symposium. I received an award from His Excellency the President of Uzbekistan, presented to me by Mr. Normat Tursonov, the governor of Navoi Region. Navayi reconnected the Turko-Persian world once more.
