Our team has been investigating the ecology of snow trout (genus Schizothorax) in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. 🐟 Using tools like electrofishing and radiotelemetry, we’re learning about their habitat preferences and how these fish migrate between winter refuges and summer feeding or spawning grounds, with some fish even crossing international borders. These data provide key insights into how #hydropower and river regulation impact biodiversity in Central Asian catchments. 📝 This month, some of our work has been featured in the Austrian magazine FISCH & WASSER, where we bring these findings to a wider public. Science communication is an essential part of what we do: making sure data doesn’t just sit in a report, but sparks curiosity and understanding.
