I come from a khasidic family. It’s a real problem. I’m from New York and also live in Israel part time. They study Torah all day, have kids, while the women work. It’s not fraud, it’s not even laziness, it’s they truly believe studying Torah and having children is the most important thing in their life. Work would take away from there studies. This isn’t all khasidic communities but a lot of them. Usually there are a few wealthy families that keep everyone afloat, they only do business within the community, the women tend to work; at least now days. They can deff be a strain on the welfare system, it’s a problem here too. They self segregate, that’s another real problem. They often don’t have the skills to assimilate, same story in Israel and it’s a constant struggle between secular, conservative, and Orthodox Jews. The comparison to sharia law is completely out of touch. They are not even close to the same.. I hope you’re doing that one for clicks haha. But it is true that they often don’t work and get benefits. I wouldn’t expect anyone outside this community to understand why they do what they do, and someone who understands this world really well, I can tell you it’s simply because Torah above all. Fraud? Maybe, there’s shitty people in every community, black, white, gay, straight, Christian, Muslim, Jew, doesn’t matter. But they do follow strict Torah and the likelihood of them breaking the law is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the vast majority of communities.
