Despite the ceasefire, we heard regular explosions as Israeli forces razed villages inside the area, while drones buzzed overhead. Vast swathes of southern Lebanon, beyond the “Yellow Line” and forming part of a wider buffer zone, lie in ruins, with entire villages devastated and rendered uninhabitable. 🏥 NEW: Israel Extends Detention of Gaza Hospital Director Dr. Abu Safiya Without Charge The family of Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, announced Saturday that Israeli authorities have illegally extended his detention without filing any formal charges, as his health deteriorates in Israeli custody. The family received notification from the Israeli Military Prosecutor’s Office of the detention extension, with a court hearing now scheduled for Tuesday, April 28. His son Elias said the court is attempting to renew his administrative detention — imprisonment without charge or trial — for an additional six months. Dr. Abu Safiya has been denied access to a lawyer for more than two months since being transferred to Ketziot Prison in the Negev Desert. His family warns his health is seriously deteriorating due to physical violence inflicted on him, ongoing significant weight loss, and systematic medical neglect. Dr. Abu Safiya was among the Palestinian detainees the Palestinian resistance pushed to have released under the October ceasefire agreement. He was arrested in December 2024 after refusing to evacuate Kamal Adwan Hospital despite repeated Israeli strikes on the facility. He remained with his patients even after his son Ibrahim was killed in October 2024. His family is demanding his immediate and unconditional release, calling on the international community and human rights institutions to intervene.
