post-shattering imo. the specificity of “an emptiness filled your hands” in the poem that seemingly describes him immediately post-shatter is very intentional… a mark of his hubris and fate. if they are akin to stigmata as well, them being a post-shatter issue makes sense.

@wandydoodles @_gurusandhu_ this is a reference to how at the end of the game gaster FUCKING DIES and ralsei ends up taking his place, making him the KING of darkness and so he writes a happy ending for his friends, so they can be free from the story
