Happy birthday to the #AcademyAward winning actor #RobertDeNiro. The actor’s stage debut was at age 10, when he played the #CowardlyLion in a school production of #TheWizardofOz. His Best Actor #Oscar was given for his portrayal of the less cowardly #JakeLaMotta in #RagingBull.

The ominous stare of #BelaLugosi, the #Hungarian actor, famed for his screen and stage portrayal of Bram Stoker’s #CountDracula. Lugosi first appear as the character in a 1927 stage production, his famous #horrorfilm version hitting the big screen in 1931. Lugosi died #otd 1956.

An autograph verse signed by #NobelPrize winner, #JohnGalsworthy, who was born #otd in 1867. The verse was written in 1929 for publication in the #PaxMundi book; an anthology of sentiments on peace published in Switzerland by the #WorldLeagueforPeace.

Signed photo by #filmdirector #AlfredHitchcock, pictured here seated alongside a large #Technicolour camera on the set of his film #UnderCapricorn, 1949. The film was such a failure that it was repossessed by the financiers. Its first network television screening came in 1968!

IAA are now cataloguing their October #WorldWarI auction which will include this signed photo by Canadian Flying #Ace #DonaldMacLaren, credited with 54 victories during the conflict. We are still accepting consignments for this historic auction.

Currently for sale at our 10:20 Online Timed auction is this vintage signed photo by #American screen idol #PaulNewman. His first credited role was in a 1952 episode of Tales of Tomorrow entitled ‘Ice from Space’, but he would have to wait until 1986 to pick up his first #Oscar!

A scarce autograph musical manuscript from the late 1940’s by the #jazz pioneer #JohnColtrane, who sadly passed away #otd in 1967. The piece is entitled Egyptian Nights and was most likely written when the #saxophonist was a member of the #KingKolaxOrchestra.

A signed photo by the #American #Jazz #Composer & #Pianist #DukeEllington as taken by James K. Kreigmann. Ellington elevated jazz to an art form and his reputation continued to rise after he died, being awarded a posthumous #PulitzerPrize for music in 1999.

An autograph manuscript by #Russian #composer #RimskyKorsakov, identified as being from his operas #LaNuitdeNoel (‘Christmas Eve’ 1894-95) and #Snegourotchka (‘The Snow Maiden’ 1880-81), the latter happens to be the composer’s own favourite work…

Revolutionary stuff! This document, signed by #JoachimMurat in 1804, was estimated to sell for £150-200, but it escalated to a hammer price of £500! Très bien!

I #spy with my little eye! This #JohnLeCarre autographed letter, estimated at £400-600, just sold for £1,200 at today’s auction!
