I'd bookmarked your Radio 3 Essay series, and am just now listening to it. Exactly half way through episode 3 and my wife asked me what I was listening to. I started to explain but broken down and burst into tears - in a good way. A beautiful story. Thank you.

My 17 year old off to TRNSMT on the w/e. I ask for a rundown of programme and he talks excitedly about @DeclanMcKenna @gerrycinamon before saying "then I have to sit through some band that are *literally* called Garbage ..."
There's the multigenerational gulf right there! 😆

@IAMKP Hope he has fun, in my day the rite of passage was Donnington and I think the only band I ever saw my dad approved of was Deep Purple. My lads go with us to concerts and middle lad got me into modern Americana/ Country music. Only seen Shirley once in GMMcK days … well braw!

It's just interesting how some 90s stuff is cutting through big time but Shirley Manson is - as yet - an unknown to my son ... he'll maybe come round mind you ...
