Rabies is a fatal disease that attacks the central nervous system of mammals. Once symptoms appear, survival is extremely rare, with a fatality rate of over 99%. Found on every continent except Antarctica, rabies remains one of the most feared and deadly diseases worldwide. Every year, millions of dogs either contract rabies or are killed in culling programmes driven by fear and misinformation. Experts consistently agree that culling does not prevent the spread of rabies. Despite its severity, rabies is entirely preventable through a simple and effective vaccination. 💉 For this reason, we're committed to delivering rabies vaccination campaigns as a core part of our work, protecting both animal and human lives. So far we have helped vaccinate a huge 25,134 animals against rabies, and aim to reach 30,000 by the end of this year! Thank you for helping us build a brighter future for animals - we wouldn't be able to do this vital work without you 💙 #animalwelfare #rabiesvaccinations #animalcharity #rabies

UPDATE: Conditions are starting to improve at SFT Animal Sanctuary, but there is still a long road ahead 🐕🌳 Recently, the ‘Wheelie Babies’ were finally able to get back out for some much-needed fresh air, sniffs and gentle exercise – a wonderful moment after weeks surrounded by deep mud and severe rainfall. Work is now underway to replace the sand in their play area so they can safely enjoy time there again. It’s a special space for them, but restoring it is both costly and time-consuming. Please give what you can to support the restoration of this incredible sanctuary after the devastating floods. Every donation will help bring them closer to providing a safe, dry space for the animals who depend on them: bit.ly/iapwa-sft 💛

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to support our Urgent Water Appeal in collaboration with @WarPawsIraq across January and February 🚛💧 Your kindness will support the delivery of vital water supplies to the shelter, helping around 400 community dogs, as well as 150 dogs and 3 cats living on-site. This means clean drinking water, full cooling pools, proper hygiene, and the ability to keep the shelter safe and disease-free. And a huge thank you to War Paws for everything they do to protect and care for the forgotten animals of war ❤

Long-term patient Uncle Ben is enjoying the sunshine 🐶☀ This lovely old boy came to us partially paralysed, unable to use his back legs, and his spine riddled with painful bone spurs. He was also suffering from tick fever, along with a number of other health issues. After being abandoned when he needed love the most, he is now safe and finally receiving the care and treatment he has been without for far too long. He is making progress, but he has not yet reached his treatment target. Could you help us get him there, so we can give him the comfort, dignity and happiness he truly deserves in his later years? 🙏🏼 Sponsor Uncle Ben today and be part of his recovery: bit.ly/iapwa-uncle-ben 💛

APPEAL: Will you help little Olly recover and find his happy ever after? 🐱❤️‍🩹 Olly was rescued in the nick of time after being found alone and covered in soot on a busy roadside leading to the airport in the Maldives. A tiny soul, lost in a dangerous place, who could so easily have become another road accident victim 💔 Olly was taken straight to the vet clinic where, once cleaned up, it was discovered he was suffering from mange. The good news is that treatment has already begun, and with the right care, the team are hopeful he will make a good recovery. Despite his difficult start, Olly is a sweet, playful boy who has quickly won over everyone he meets. He loves attention, enjoys playing with the volunteers, and is already showing just how much love he has to give. One day, he will make a wonderful, furry best friend. Right now, he just needs the chance to get there. With your support, IAPWA and our friends at Welfare For Island Cats can make sure Olly gets the treatment, care, and time he needs to fully recover and begin his search for a loving home. Every donation, no matter the size, will help give him that chance. Will you be part of Olly’s journey? 🙏🏼 📝 Olly's Donation Form: bit.ly/iapwa-olly 💰 PayPal: paypal.me/iapwa Thank you for caring about little Olly 🧡

A big thank you from little Georgy 💛 Do you remember this brave boy? Last year he was rescued from the streets of the Maldives, barely clinging to life with a horrific neck wound that left a large portion of his skin missing. Thanks to your support and the amazing team at Welfare For Island Cats, Georgy has made remarkable progress. This month he is scheduled to receive his second dose of vaccinations and will enjoy a lovely groom, as he prepares to start the search for his forever home 🏡 We are so proud and grateful for how far he’s come. Having once been in such poor and fragile condition, Georgy is finally ready to find his forever family and live his happy ever after. Thank you for helping make this possible for Georgy 🐱🐾

We’ve raised very little to support SFT Animal Sanctuary after horrendous floods left them struggling to care for the hundreds of animals who depend on them 💔 Please donate to help us restore the sanctuary and give dogs like Dixie a safe place to live: bit.ly/iapwa-sft

Did you know that we've supported over 57,000 animals through our projects and support programmes here at IAPWA? 🤯 This includes: 🩺 Providing veterinary treatment and care to dogs and cats in need of our lifeline 🐕 Partnering with governments to establish humane programmes to care for the strays in their regions 💉 Running campaigns to vaccinate dogs against rabies to protect both animal and human lives 🚑 Providing emergency aid to help animals affected by natural disasters and war 🐈 Finding supportive homes for dogs and cats struggling to cope on the streets through our in-country adoption programmes And more! None of this would be possible without the kindness and generosity of supporters like you. Thank you for helping us build a brighter future for all of these animals. #animalwelfare #animalcharity #dogrescue #catrescue

Doe says THANK YOU 🐕💖 Do you remember sweet girl Doe, who was found caught in a wild animal trap and rushed in for emergency care? Her injuries were severe, and she needed an urgent leg amputation to save her life. After a couple of weeks recovering at the veterinary clinic, we were delighted to see Doe discharged. Since then, this brave girl has taken everything in her stride and is finally getting steady on her three legs! Thanks to the kindness of everyone who supported her appeal, Doe was able to receive the urgent treatment and aftercare she needed. We’re so grateful to every single person who helped make her recovery possible. Doe has now moved to a shelter where she can continue building her strength and confidence in a safe and caring environment. She’s come such a long way already, and we’re hopeful that a forever home will be in her future 🤞🏼 Thank you for being part of Doe’s journey 🤎

𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗟: 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 🚨💔 Over the past few weeks, SFT Animal Sanctuary has been torn apart by severe rainfall. Conditions have become so extreme that many of the animals already in their care, once safe and sheltered, are now suffering as a result, struggling in deep mud without sufficient shelter and warmth. Patients affected range from very sick and elderly dogs and cats, to vulnerable young puppies, and even the ‘Wheelie Babies’ – disabled dogs who receive extra special care at the sanctuary and who can no longer go out to exercise on their wheels due to the deep mud. It simply cannot go on. Even more devastating is that the sanctuary has had to halt emergency rescues for those still suffering on the streets. They simply cannot bring in any more animals until those already depending on them can live in safe, dry and humane conditions again. As a matter of urgency, we are seeking your support to help repair and restore this shelter that hundreds of innocent animals call home. Every day these animals remain in these conditions is another day too long. We cannot leave our friends behind 💔 Please donate to this emergency appeal today: bit.ly/iapwa-sft

"I've found my forever home!" 🐶💖 This little boy is one of nine puppies who were abandoned in the centre of George Town when they were very young. Thanks to our IAPWA Penang team, they were brought to safety and given the care and protection every puppy deserves. We are so pleased to share that he has now been adopted into a loving home ✨ His new adopters, Kenneth and his wife, had recently said goodbye to their much loved dog of 16 years. After taking some time to grieve and reflect, they decided they were ready to welcome another dog into their lives and give a rescue puppy the chance of a happy future. Now this little one gets to start his next chapter in a cosy home, with a garden to play in, and a family to cherish him forever 🌳🏠 So far four of the nine puppies have found loving homes. We hope it won't be long before this little one's remaining siblings find families of their own too. Wish them luck! ❤

Thank you so much to everyone who donated, shared our appeal, and showed their support. We simply wouldn't have been able to do this without you. 💙 Over the coming weeks we will be busy completing Phase One at the shelter, laying vital foundations for a better future for the hundreds of dogs and cats living there. We are also in the process of finalizing our plans for Phase Two, which we can't wait to share with you soon. Today we’d like to give a big shoutout to our incredible IAPWA Penang team, who have now neutered over 8,200 dogs through their TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release & Rehome) project 🐕👏🏼 The team recently shared this reflection: “Behind every dog we humanely catch is a story most people never see. It is the quiet dedication, the repeated visits to study the landscape, the patience in observing feeding patterns, speaking with street feeders, planning strategies, and the long hours spent under the hot sun or late into the night. This work is not easy, but it is meaningful. Every successful catch prevents generations of suffering. Every dog neutered represents a life changed, a community improved, and a kinder future made possible.” This milestone is a testament to the commitment, compassion and perseverance of everyone in the team. Through TNR, we are not only improving the lives of individual dogs, but creating lasting, humane change for communities and stray populations across Penang Island 🌎🐾
