We’re incredibly proud of our teammates at IAPWA Penang, who have officially renewed their Memorandum of Understanding with MBPP for another five years, continuing their vital trap-neuter-release/rehome programme for stray dogs 🐕🌏 Initially signed in 2017, this partnership is a powerful example of how humane, compassionate stray animal management can work in practice. At a time when many communities continue to struggle with stray animal welfare challenges, Penang Island is showing that there is a better way – one built on kindness, collaboration, and long-term commitment. This renewed agreement also highlights the importance of partnerships between NGOs and local government, working together professionally and respectfully for the good of both animals and local communities. A huge congratulations and thank you to our dedicated team in Penang Island, and to the leadership of MBPP for continuing to champion humane solutions for stray animals. We’re honoured to support this work and excited to see what the next five years will achieve 💙

Wonderful news! Beautiful Bonny is doing great 🐶🎉 Since being rescued in a heartbreaking state, Bonny has come such a long way. She’s growing in confidence every day and was even well enough to be neutered recently alongside her friend Wonky Baby (pictured). After spending some time in foster care recovering, Bonny was finally well enough this week to be transferred to the mini sanctuary at SFT, where she will begin a brand new chapter of her life surrounded by lots of furry friends. Thank you to everyone who has supported Bonny. Because of you, her future has changed from one of pain and uncertainty to one where she can finally enjoy being a dog again ❤️

We’ve only raised £32 to vaccinate puppies like these two siblings 💔 Many have watched their brothers and sisters die from diseases that could have been prevented with a simple vaccine. Please don’t let them suffer the same fate. Vaccinate a puppy 👇🏽 bit.ly/iapwa-puppy-vax

Take a walk through this struggling shelter in Borneo with us. 💔 We're often asked how the shelter got into this position in the first place. It's a complex mix of factors, but the simple answer is that these stray dogs and cats have nowhere else to go. The shelter isn't allowed to turn away any animals dropped off by the municipal authorities. This means they have to take in as many as 85 animals per month - strays who are sick, injured, or have been complained about by local residents. The shelter is buckling after so many years of pressure. They have limited resources, inadequate facilities and poor infrastructure. That's why they came to us for help, and we knew we needed to step in. We're now in Phase 2 of the shelter redevelopment. This is all about tackling the root causes of suffering: safer housing, proper quarantine and disease control, improved veterinary care, and better pathways into adoption. But as a small charity we can't do this without your help. The good news is that thanks to an incredibly generous supporter, every donation you make to Phase 2 will be DOUBLED through match funding up to £15,000. This will unlock £30,000 of impact for these dogs and cats who so desperately need it. There's never been a more impactful time to donate. Please support us today: justgiving.com/campaign/borne… #AnimalWelfare #DogRescue #CatRescue

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗜𝗔𝗣𝗪𝗔 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀? 🚨💉 Every year, we rescue hundreds of vulnerable puppies from the streets. Many are born into danger and exposed to deadly disease and cruelty before they are even old enough to understand the world around them. Some have already watched their brothers and sisters suffer and die by their side. Others arrive in our care weak, terrified and seriously ill, carrying diseases that could have been prevented with a simple vaccine 💔 Vaccinations cost as little as £3 per puppy, meaning you can help protect a vulnerable life for less than the price of a cup of coffee ☕ 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆, 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱. This weekend we said goodbye to Uncle Ben 💔🕊️ Our Penang Island team were by this old boy’s side from the moment he was rescued, giving him all the love, care, and comfort he had gone without for so long. We knew his time with us would be limited, and that his condition was starting to deteriorate, but that never makes the farewell any easier. Thank you to everyone who supported Uncle Ben during his time with us. Your kindness helped ensure he was cared for, comfortable, and truly loved right up until the very end 🌈 And thank you to IAPWA Penang for their unwavering dedication to every stray dog that comes through their doors, proving that Uncle Ben was not just another street dog, but a truly special individual who was deeply loved and will be missed dearly ✨

River is recovering well and has started the search for her forever home 🐕🏡 Remember sweet girl River? Once living a peaceful life, this poor girl accidentally stumbled into a wild animal trap, leaving her in unimaginable pain with a large part of her front leg torn off. She was taken in by the IAPWA Penang team, where it was soon discovered that amputation was the only option to give her the quality of life she deserved. Since her successful surgery, River has received veterinary care, support, and huge amounts of love from the team. She has also been spayed and fully vaccinated 💉 Now, the time has come for River to begin the search for her forever home, leaving kennel life behind. This sweet girl couldn’t be more ready to find the love and security of her humans. She longs for a family who will see past her disability and give her the chance to live a normal, happy life. Thank you to everyone who has supported River on her journey – from her traumatic life on the streets to a happy ever after now in sight. Without your support, River may not be with us today. Now, she has a future filled with hope and possibility 💖

This cheeky little boy has found his forever home 🐶🏡 It was smiles all around this week when this sweet two-month-old puppy was adopted by an amazing family who were finally ready to open their hearts again after losing their beloved dog. Without a furry friend to keep them company, their home had started to feel quieter, like something was missing. This week, love returned to them in the most special way when they decided it was time to adopt a street puppy in need. They were not replacing their previous companion, simply making room in their hearts for a beautiful new chapter to begin. Good luck in your new home, little one. Here’s to lots of adventures, cuddles, and mischief ahead ❤️

APPEAL: Blind kitten Leon urgently needs your help 🐈💔 Little Leon was rescued from the streets of the Maldives at just three months old – tiny, vulnerable, and trying to survive in a frightening and dangerous world he cannot see. He was found completely alone, with no mother or siblings nearby, desperately searching for food, safety and somewhere to hide. Unable to see the dangers around him, every moment on the streets would have been terrifying for this tiny kitten. He must have been so scared 😔 Thankfully, Leon was rescued and rushed to the vet clinic, where examinations revealed that his blindness is likely the result of either an infection or a congenital condition. For Leon to regain his sight would be nothing short of a miracle. For now, Leon is finally safe. But he is still incredibly fragile 🥀 Weighing just 0.69kg, he is severely underweight and has a long road to recovery ahead of him. The coming days and weeks will be critical. He urgently needs ongoing veterinary care, nourishing food, medication, and a safe place to recover and grow stronger. That is why we are asking for your help today. Please sponsor little Leon and give this brave boy the care and protection he so desperately needs. Although Leon may never see the kindness surrounding him, your compassion could change his world completely. Will you hold Leon’s tiny paw through the difficult journey ahead? 🐾 📝 Leon’s donation form: bit.ly/iapwa-leon 💰 PayPal: paypal.me/iapwa Thank you for caring 💙

𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗡 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 ❤️‍🩹 Our beautiful old boy Uncle Ben is starting to grow physically weaker. He was due to undergo ear surgery, but after careful assessment, this has now been postponed as he is not strong enough at the moment. Most of his days are spent sleeping, eating, and resting while the team does everything possible to keep him comfortable. Thankfully, despite everything he is facing, Uncle Ben still has a strong appetite and continues to enjoy his meals. This gentle boy is deeply loved by the IAPWA Penang team, and every decision made for him moving forward will be centred around his comfort, dignity, and quality of life, alongside the guidance of the veterinary team. Uncle Ben has already endured more suffering than any dog ever should. Now, in his later years, he deserves warmth, care, pain relief, a full belly, and the chance to feel safe and loved for however long he has left. We would be so grateful for any donation towards Uncle Ben’s ongoing veterinary care, medication, treatment, specialist support, and daily needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us continue giving this old boy the comfort and care he deserves. Please help us continue fighting for Uncle Ben 👇🏼 💜 JustGiving page: bit.ly/iapwa-uncle-ben 💰 PayPal: paypal.me/iapwa Thank you for standing beside him and reminding him that he has not been forgotten ❤

𝗦𝗙𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 🛠️ Whilst the SFT Tangier team continue their vital day-to-day work, including TNVT (Treat, Neuter, Vaccinate & Tag), emergency rescues, and educating communities on animal welfare, work is also continuing to rebuild the sanctuary and make it safe again for the animals in their care. Right now, the focus is on removing huge amounts of dirt to make the sanctuary accessible again and help protect it from future severe weather events that could cause further flooding and landslides. This work is essential for keeping the animals safe. If you are able to contribute towards the ongoing sanctuary repairs and recovery efforts, we would be so incredibly grateful. Every donation helps to continue protecting this safe haven for vulnerable animals in Tangier ❤ Please support this work here: bit.ly/iapwa-sft

Two more puppies find their forever homes 🏡💛 Sometimes, opening your heart again after loss can feel impossible. It’s something this lovely family knew all too well. They had always grown up in a home full of furry friends, but one by one, each crossed over the rainbow bridge, leaving empty spaces in both their hearts and their home. Now, the only senior dog left had become lost and lonely without his companions. The family knew it was time to rescue again, and this time, these two lucky puppies were chosen, bringing new energy and joy back into all of their lives ✨ What makes it even more special is seeing the children grow up surrounded by that love too. Caring for animals teaches kindness, empathy, and responsibility in a way nothing else can. We’re so happy for this wonderful family and their newest additions. Thank you for choosing adoption and for changing two more little lives forever 💙

Three-legged George is thriving in his foster home 🐶🎉 Meet George. He was rescued from the streets of Penang Island after getting caught in a cruel wild animal trap. His injuries were so severe that George had to have his front right leg amputated, followed by a long recovery process. Despite everything he has been through, things are now looking up for George. He is flourishing in foster care and has blossomed into an incredibly affectionate, gentle boy. He’s enjoying mini walks to strengthen his mobility, has a new furry best friend by his side, and has even formed a beautiful bond with his foster family’s cats 🐈 Thank you to everyone who supports our work - from donating or volunteering, to fostering and adopting. Without you, dogs like George would never have got their happy ending 💙
