The only win for the climate in the current conflict is that nuclear is finally back on the table. It’s reliable, affordable, and clean - the pivot away from fossil fuels just got a much-needed nuclear boost. #EnergyTransition #NetZero #Nuclear

University enrollment remains low at 2.1% of the eligible population. Recent tuition fee increases in the 2025/26 cycle present a quantifiable challenge to expanding the country's professional technical base.

2026: the leading cause of illness and death in Sierra Leone is malaria. A disease that can be prevented and treated. Prevention: vaccines, mosquito nets, sprays, prophylaxis. Cure: artemisinin-based combination therapy. Challenge; late treatment due to access to medication.

History shows that targeting women in war isn't collateral damage. It’s a calculated tactic to humiliate an enemy. Angelina Jolie called it a policy of destruction. Every woman matters, or none of them do. We human rights shouldn’t stop at the border of a political agenda. 🌍💔

Hillary Clinton in ’95: Women’s rights are human rights. UN in 2026: picking and choosing which women to protect. All the noise for Iran but not for Ukraine,Gaza,Israel and others? #IWD2026

First time in my career I sent a concerned email to an investor about a company. We did the E&S monitoring in multiple countries and with a single exception, there were serious labour violations-breaking the law! Fun fact: it’s impact investing and ESG focused. You cant make itup

BREAKING: 🇪🇺🇺🇸 Europe is starting to replace US tech companies with domestic ones - EU parliament resolution Europe is pushing for digital sovereignty to reduce its heavy dependence on US tech giants. US providers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud dominate over 70–80% of Europe's cloud and digital infrastructure market. Recent EU efforts include a January 2026 European Parliament resolution calling for prioritising non-US options in public procurement, building a "Eurostack"

Last week we launched a youth-led, AI assisted strategic environmental assessment in Sierra Leone. It feels monumental to rely on social media for engagement. So far the youth of SL are engaging. Next stop is ML sentiment analysis.

@AlecStapp Part of it is the evolution of public awareness that holds regulators accountable, but I see a big issue with experts justifying their fees by page count. AI is amazing to extract the most meaningful parts: baseline, expected impacts & mitigation measures.

Over the last 40 years, environmental procedure laws (NEPA) have totally ballooned out of control: 1981: environmental assessment for 8 different transmission line projects was 13 pages long 2023: environmental assessment for congestion pricing in NYC was 4,007-pages (!)

@o_mcpartlin SEAs are very rarely done - and done right. The traditional methodology looks at a few yes/no scenarios. We are currently doing an SEA in Sierra Leone and use ML for the scenario modelling. The results are life changing.

Political opponents of the government's revised apartment regulations have used the courts to try slow down or block the new guidelines The reason? The government didn't do a strategic environmental assessment. This is bad news 🧵

@AlecStapp The numbers matter less as EIAs require both projects to look at the same impacts: land, biodiversity loss, construction phase impacts. A wind turbine needs 400kg concrete and blasting for the base. ‘Clean’ energy is not all rainbows and unicorns.

FYI 62% of energy-related projects currently undergoing the strictest level of environmental review are for clean energy. Only 16% are for fossil fuels.
