BIO on the American Road - Day 2 continued in San Juan with a stop at the Molecular Sciences Research Center (MSRC) - part of the University of Puerto Rico and home to more than 300 researchers, students, and technicians advancing high-impact molecular sciences research. BIO President & CEO John F. Crowley joined leaders from across Puerto Rico’s innovation ecosystem for a roundtable discussion on strengthening and growing the island’s biotechnology economy. The conversation brought together the President of @UPR_Oficial Zayira Jordán Conde, CEO of @InvestPR Ella Woger-Nieves, Deputy Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce Carlos J. Ríos Pierluisi, and CEO of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust Lucy Crespo to discuss the role of research institutions, public policy, and industry collaboration in reinforcing Puerto Rico’s position as a global center for biotech innovation. The visit concluded with a tour of the MSRC facility, highlighting the cutting-edge research and training underway to support the island’s next generation of scientists and innovators. That's a wrap on day 1. Day 2 of #BIOontheAmericanRoad-Puerto Rico will bring BIO staff to the UPR Molecular Sciences Research Center in San Juan - home to over 300 researchers, students and technicians - all working to develop competitive scientific research with high social and economic value to reinforce Puerto Rico as a global leader molecular sciences research and innovation. The team will then head to the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust. Since 2004, the Trust's mission is to stimulate innovation, technology commercialization and the creation of high-technology jobs in Puerto Rico’s Life Sciences, among other key sectors.

Day 1 of #BIOontheAmericanRoad in Puerto Rico began with BIO President & CEO John F. Crowley and BIO staff meeting with @RepPabloJose, followed by a tour of @Amgen's Juncos facility - the company’s largest globally. The visit highlighted Puerto Rico’s growing leadership in biomanufacturing and the continued investment in workforce training powering the island’s biotech future. A sincere thank you to Commissioner Hernández, his team, and Amgen’s Vice President of Site Operations Thomas Seewoester and the entire Amgen team for hosting BIO and kicking off an outstanding first day in Puerto Rico.

BIO on the American Road has arrived in #PuertoRico for a two-day stop highlighting the island’s leadership in #biomanufacturing. Puerto Rico is not only a cornerstone of pharmaceutical manufacturing - it's also a growing center for #biotech research, training, and #workforcedevelopment. The tour will visit the Molecular Sciences Research Center - a 152,000 sq. ft. advanced research facility affiliated with the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) - where translational biomedical research and industry partnerships are helping prepare the next generation of biotech innovators. UPR has also collaborated with manufacturers - including @Amgen, whose Puerto Rico site is the company’s largest globally and is undergoing a $650M expansion - to strengthen workforce pipelines across the island.
