God defines reality, not man. His holiness, sovereignty, and character set the standard by which everything else is understood. “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways” Isaiah 55:8. When we start there, we begin to see ourselves rightly. This is why the gospel makes sense only when God is first. His holiness exposes our sin. His justice explains the cross. His grace magnifies salvation. “From Him and through Him and to Him are all things” Romans 11:36. If we get God right, everything else falls into place. If we start with man, everything becomes distorted.
