In Mexico City, alongside @ICCMEXICO, we convened policymakers and business leaders across the Americas and the Caribbean to focus on what the region needs now: a trading system that supports growth, investment and resilience. The discussions pointed to three practical priorities: stronger digital trade corridors within the region, more accessible trade finance for #SMEs and lower compliance costs linked to rules of origin. Advancing these priorities will help businesses invest, expand and strengthen economic resilience across the Americas. Through the ICC Compact for Trade, Growth and Jobs, we will continue working with partners across the region to advance practical solutions that support today’s economy and future growth. At #MC14, @ICCSecGen presented a Global Business Statement to @WTO Director-General @NOIweala. Backed by 236 business organisations worldwide, the message is clear. We need: ➡️ a time-bound process for WTO reform ➡️ a renewal of the Moratorium on Customs Duties on Electronic Transmissions More here: bit.ly/4tdI9Xx

At the opening of the @WTO@iccwbo Business Forum in Yaoundé. Great to hear from @ICCSecGen John Denton, H.E. Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana — Minister of Trade of Cameroon & MC14 Chair, and Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede — Chair, Coronation Group & Access Holding. Ably moderated by @NicoleNMensa. We are living through one of the most uncertain moments for global trade in decades. But here at the WTO, we are working hard to reform the multilateral trading system. And businesses have a critical role to play — not just in calling for change, but in helping build what comes next.

What happens when digital tools suddenly become more expensive for millions of MSMEs? 🔍 For 25 years, the WTO e‑Commerce Moratorium has kept digital transmissions tariff‑free, keeping software, cloud services and apps accessible and affordable to businesses everywhere. If the Moratorium lapses, those tools become costlier overnight. For small businesses — especially in developing economies — even minor price increases can significantly slow growth, limit upgrades and weaken their ability to compete globally. The global trading system is under pressure; MC14 is the moment to act. At the WTO–ICC Business Forum in Yaoundé, @ICCSecGen joined @wto Director-General @NOIweala and Cameroon’s Minister of Trade Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana and Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Coronation Group Limited, to bring business priorities directly to ministers. The message was clear: rising uncertainty is undermining stability, investment and jobs, and the system has not kept pace with the needs of the modern economy. On behalf of the global business community, ICC Secretary General called for two essential outcomes at #MC14: • a structured, time‑bound WTO reform process • a permanent e‑commerce moratorium to keep digital trade predictable and accessible Business is united, aligned and ready to support a system that delivers for today’s economy and tomorrow’s opportunities. The road to #COP31 starts with delivery. New work programmes on climate finance, trade and implementation will shape the 2026 agenda, alongside efforts to accelerate the energy transition. Clarity on investment, finance and implementation remains critical. But commitments alone won’t deliver results. Business must be at the centre of implementation, backed by clear rules and a much greater focus on enabling environments and the right incentives.

Today in the Societe Generale towers in Paris, the conversations went straight to the core of trade finance. Gathering experts, ICC Banking Commission meeting created a space for forward-looking dialogue about the future of trade finance. Panelists discussed how the industry can adapt to a multipolar world, while continuing to provide the trust and reliability businesses depend on. For close to a century, the ICC Banking Commission has shaped globally accepted rules and guidelines for trade finance — a foundation that continues to support the industry through periods of change. A clear reminder that even as global dynamics shift, these fundamentals of trust, reliability, and cooperation remain central to how trade moves forward. @ICC_France @SocieteGenerale

Can a tax proposal have real economic consequences? 👀 Our latest study with Oxford Economics looks at how gross-basis withholding taxes (like Article 12AA) could affect cross-border services, and what that means beyond tax policy alone. The findings show how added friction can influence trade, investment and growth decisions across the real economy. For developing economies, the effects can be particulary negative. Services underpin diversification, competitiveness and participation in global value chains. Policies that make them harder or costlier to deliver risk weakening those foundations.
