Today, 12 March, Judge Anas Hmedi, President of the Tunisian Judges’ Association (AMT), appeared for trial before the Tunis First Instance Criminal Court for "disrupting the freedom of work" following the 2022 judicial strike against the arbitrary dismissal of 57 judges. (1/3)

The @ICJ_org calls on the #Tunisian authorities to immediately release Judge Ben Khaled, drop all charges against him, end the arbitrary prosecution of members of the judiciary and restore judicial independence. (5/5)

Furthermore, Judge Ben Khaled’s arrest violates his judicial immunity, as the Administrative Court had previously ordered his reinstatement, along with 48 other dismissed judges and prosecutors. (4/5)
