This $ICP projection (published by DFINITY in May of 2023) may sound extremely ambitious, but I believe it will materialize. In the next 2-3 years, ICP will become deflationary & the usage & adoption of the Blockchain will skyrocket. When this projection was posted, the CBR was very low. In fact, in 2023, we have burned 58K ICP. Just for reference, last year we have burned 1.6M ICP. In 2024, according to Dominic Williams, ICP has experienced a remarkable 500% year-over-year growth in computational activity. According to the projections of the DFINITY foundation, Deflation could be achieved in 3 years. The graph below illustrates the simulated development of voting rewards, node provider rewards, and cycles burned, all converted to ICP. According to the above mentioned projection, between May 2026 and May 2027, the amount of cycles burned (indicated by the green line) is projected to surpass node provider rewards (represented by the dark blue bars). In 2-3 years, the amount of cycles burned is projected to surpass the combined sum of node provider rewards and voting rewards (green line surpassing the sum of the blue and purple bars). M70 will decrease voting and node rewards. Adoption & usage will be achieved with @caffeineai + the activity of the Swiss Subnet + Cloud Engines. As mentioned, I believe this projection is not obsolete and that it will be possible to cover Node Rewards once M70 is implemented. Node rewards will decrease and the CBR should increase (as a result of M70 + Adoption & usage). Since this projection was posted, on a yearly basis, the ICP Burn rate has increased by 27X.

To this date NO other chain has mastered chain key, and none can do what's described above (some have created pale imitations that enable them to create transactions on other chains without proper safety and trustlessness — but their chains don't sign the results of every single transaction submitted to them using a single master key, which allows the interactions to be trustlessly verified). Only ICP has a 48-byte master key that can be used to validate all interactions with the network, by validating a special signature on results. What's so extraordinary about this feature, which sits at the core of ICP's protocol is that it scales horizontally. That is, even as the network continues growing thanks to self-writing and cloud engines, and even if it has to process a trillion transactions a second, all the interactions with the network can be verified using the network's 48-byte master key. For those that are wondering, of course, this doesn't involve trust, and there is no private key that can be stolen from the network — the special signatures on results are created through BFT-safe collaboration between nodes, scaled out across subnets using Merkle structures. When you are using an app running on ICP, the frontend is automatically creating tx (essentially remote function calls into network software) for you in the background (on ICP, transactions are typically created by the frontends of hosted apps, rather than manually using traditional blockchain wallets). Quite a lot of blockchain's are now trying to pivot to the "onchain cloud narrative," but speaking frankly, they don't know what they're talking about. If they did, it would be possible to upload fully onchain apps to their networks! Be careful out there.

In 2025, DFINITY began a mission to connect mainstream tech to the Internet Computer. The majority of ICP sovereign onchain cloud usage is now mainstream — self-writing/Caffeine, and soon cloud engines too. ICP is the only network in the world that could pull off this feat.

We have added 16.2K Canisters since the beginning of February (in less than 2 days), which is an impressive achievement. As a comparison, in just 2 days, we have equaled the best result for the month of Feb since Genesis. Feb 22 ➡️9K Feb 23➡️10.1K Feb 24➡️16.7K Feb 25➡️14.4K This acceleration is game-changing if two conditions are met: ➡️We can sustain this level of growth ➡️New canister deployments translate into real usage In the past, we’ve seen 100K+ canisters deployed in a short time, but it didn’t meaningfully move the needle on usage long term. So for now, I’m cautiously optimistic. What really matters is continuation over the next few months.

Cloud revenue is expected to continue growing. Even if $ICP captures just 0.1% of a projected $2T market by 2030, that would still represent $2B in annual revenue. Applications deployed on the Internet Computer are tamperproof and sovereign by design. Code is serverless & data loss is basically impossible = safe & secure🔐
