This inspired him to propose a treaty for armies to care for wounded soldiers and create national societies to support military medical services. When conflict forces people to flee, not everyone can simply run. Haidar's prosthetic limb is more than mobility, it is his path back to work, independence, and supporting his family. Even in conflict, rehabilitation helps people keep moving forward.

📍Burundi | Chibalonza fled the Democratic Republic of the Congo with her children, carrying them through fear, loss and displacement. Today, in Musenyi camp, she fears they may not have enough food to survive. Burundi now hosts more than 145,000 Congolese refugees, many of whom live in camps. In Mazar-e-Sharif, @ICRC, in partnership with @ARCSAfghanistan provided cash assistance to 400 vulnerable women who are pregnant or feeding a baby to help them buy food & meet their essential needs. For mothers facing hardship, this support provides stability for their families.

No one chooses to leave behind their home, their community, and their life. On World Refugee Day, we recognize the strength of people forced to flee, as well as the hardship, loss and uncertainty they carry with them. Civilians remain protected, at all times.

Sexual violence is a key feature of the armed conflict taking place in Sudan. We recently met some survivors who are taking refuge in Chad. Their testimonies speak to the violence they endured. We stand in solidarity with them, and with all those affected by these atrocities 👇🏽

📍Iran | We have delivered more than 18 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to the Iranian Red Crescent Society to support emergency response efforts. When electricity is cut, the impact goes far beyond the lights. In southern Lebanon, the ICRC worked alongside Electricité du Liban to repair a conflict-damaged power line, help restore electricity to over 60,000 people & support access to key services despite ongoing challenges.

Today, we participated in the repatriation of human remains of fallen soldiers between Russia and Ukraine, as agreed by the parties to the conflict. This marks the 65th repatriation we have supported since 2022, and we are ready continue contributing to this humanitarian effort.
