National Dairy Development Board
The IDF Regional Dairy Conference Africa 2026, themed “Driving Dairy Competitiveness and Sustainability in Africa and Beyond,” is underway at Victoria Falls, Republic of Zimbabwe, bringing together global dairy leaders and stakeholders. NDDB, on behalf of the Indian National Committee of the International Dairy Federation (@FIL_IDF ), is promoting the IDF World Dairy Summit 2027 to be hosted in India. This Summit will serve as a vital platform for essential discussions, strategic networking and impactful collaborations. Participants will get to witness the unique small-holder dairying practised in India and also experience the host city, Mumbai. The exhibition was visited by Honourable Dr Anxious Jongwe Masuka, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Government of Zimbabwe; Ms Laurence Rycken, Director General, IDF; Honourable Davis Marapira, Deputy Minister; and Professor Obert Jiri (@obertjiri ), Permanent Secretary, @MoLAFWRD_Zim , who appreciated NDDB’s efforts in strengthening global dairy dialogue and partnerships. @IDMCLtd , NDDB's wholly-owned subsidiary, is also showcasing its advanced dairy machinery and equipment.

National Dairy Development Board
NDDB conducted a six-day exposure visit on the Indian Dairy Cooperative Business Model for delegation from Bhutan, comprising officers from the Department of Livestock, MoAL Bhutan (@moafbhutan ) and dairy farmers. The programme was organised as part of continued cooperation efforts between the two countries to strengthen Bhutan’s dairy sector through learnings from India’s cooperative framework. The visit provided comprehensive insights into the cooperative dairy business model and its role in enhancing rural livelihoods. Sessions highlighted the importance of strong governance in institution building. Delegates were introduced to NDDB’s key initiatives aimed at improving animal productivity, including advanced breeding strategies, balanced & scientific feeding practices and strengthening animal healthcare & management systems. The programme also covered advancements in dairy plant operations and the integration of technology to ensure transparency and efficiency across the dairy value chain. Discussions on NDDB’s manure value chain model and interactions with NCDFI offered participants an understanding of digital platforms such as the e-marketing portal for dairy cooperatives. The programme included field visits including NDDB’s Fodder Demonstration Unit, NDDB Genomics Lab, and Mujkuva Dairy Cooperative Society. They also visited NDDB's wholly-owned subsidiaries @NDDB_Calf_25 and @IDMCLtd ’s gaining insights into quality assurance systems and dairy infrastructure manufacturing. The programme included a visit to @DairyAmul , including its state-of-the-art Tribhuvandas Food Complex, Vidya Dairy and Panchmahal Milk Union.

National Dairy Development Board
NDDB-managed @purabidairy formally commenced operations in Barak Valley with the inauguration of the renovated 20,000 litres per day (LPD) milk processing plant at Gungoor, Silchar by Shri Krishnendu Paul Ji (@KPaulAssam ), Hon’ble Minister, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Government of Assam. The facility, earlier under the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department has been upgraded under the Assam Dairy Development Plan and operationalised by North East Dairy and Foods Limited, a joint venture of the Government of Assam and the National Dairy Development Board. The event was also graced by Shri Kaushik Rai Ji (@iKaushikRai ), Hon’ble Minister, Barak Valley Development Department; Shri Kanad Purkayastha Ji (@kanadpurkaystha ), Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha, Shri Parimal Suklabaidya Ji (@ParimalSuklaba1 ), Hon’ble Member of Lok Sabha & Shri S Regupathi, Executive Director, NDDB among other distinguished dignitaries. Completed in less than 10 months by NDDB's wholly-owned subsidiary @IDMCLtd , the plant has been equipped with modern dairy processing machinery and quality control systems to ensure production of hygienically processed and standardised milk. With its commissioning, consumers in Silchar and adjoining areas will have access to fresh pouch milk under the Purabi brand, along with a range of value-added dairy products. In his address, the Hon’ble Minister stated that the commissioning of the plant represents a significant step towards fulfilling the State’s vision of expanding organised dairy infrastructure, ensuring balanced regional growth and creating assured procurement channels for local dairy farmers. He emphasised that strengthening cooperative institutions is essential for improving farmer incomes and ensuring nutritional security. Shri S. Regupathi highlighted that sustainable dairy development requires end-to-end technical support across breeding, feed and fodder management, transparent milk procurement, scientific processing, value addition and professional marketing, best delivered through producer-owned institutions working on cooperative principles. He reaffirmed NDDB’s continued technical & institutional support for dairy development in Assam.

Dr. @ShahMeenesh , Chairman, NDDB, interacted with the elected Board members of Magadh Milk Union at NDDB, Anand, during a three-day Board of Directors Orientation Programme organised under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD). During the interaction, he outlined key priorities for strengthening the milk union, including expansion of the producer base, enhanced member engagement and strengthening of village-level cooperatives to augment milk procurement. He assured NDDB’s technical support for fodder-based FPOs and promotion of scientific silage-making to address fodder scarcity & improve animal productivity. Dr. Shah also encouraged engagement with NDDB’s subsidiary, NDDB MRIDA Limited, for promoting household-level biogas plants. He suggested setting up demonstration units on Sustainable Farm Management Practices covering manure management, renewable energy utilisation and climate-resilient dairy farming to reduce input costs and enhance sustainability. The Chairman further welcomed the Board’s decision to organise training programmes for farmers at NDDB, Anand, noting that such exposure would strengthen understanding of the cooperative model, motivate farmer participation and support long-term growth & stability of dairy cooperatives. The orientation programme includes structured and interactive sessions on board roles, responsibilities and ethics, contemporary national & global dairy perspectives, White Revolution 2.0, NPDD framework, performance assessment of milk unions, Ethno-Veterinary Medicine (EVM) and Dairying Through Cooperatives. As part of the programme, participants will be visiting the @DairyAmul facilities, Mujkuva DCS, Flexi Biogas Plant, Gochar land fodder development initiatives, @IDMCLtd and NDDB’s fodder & sustainable farm management demonstration units.

Dr. @ShahMeenesh , Chairman, NDDB, met with participants from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka at NDDB, Anand. The meeting was a part of a three-day international training programme on “Dairy Development through the Cooperative Business Model” being organised by NDDB in collaboration with the Centre for International Cooperation & Training of VAMNICOM, Pune (@VAMNICOM_Pune ), especially for SAARC countries (@SaarcSec ). During the interaction, Dr. Shah shared insights into India’s dairy development journey under the Anand Pattern, highlighted NDDB’s role in strengthening cooperative institutions, productivity enhancement and sustainability. He also highlighted the relevance of the cooperative business model in empowering smallholders and strengthening rural livelihoods across countries with similar socio-economic contexts. The programme is being conducted for member institutions of CICTAB (@cictab_1 ) –VAMNICOM and brought together 15 participants representing cooperative institutions and development organisations from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. As part of the programme, participants attended classroom sessions on India’s dairy cooperative structure, governance and value chain management. They also visited Mujkuva Dairy Cooperative Society, @IDMCLtd , NDDB’s Sustainable Farm Management Practices Unit and @DairyAmul units, gaining first-hand insights into India’s cooperative-led dairy development ecosystem. The initiative reflects NDDB’s continued commitment to international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in support of inclusive and sustainable dairy development.

Dr. @ShahMeenesh , Chairman, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), inaugurated NDDB Foundation for Nutrition (NFN)’s new Giftmilk Programme at Primary School, Manpura, Anklav in Anand district of Gujarat. Shri Prakash Maheshwari, MD, @IDMCLtd ; Smt. Leelaben Padhiyar, Sarpanch, Manpura Village; Shri Tejendarsinh Solanki, Deputy District Primary Education Officer, Anand; Smt. Sangeetaben Makwana, Chairman, Manpura DCS; Dr. V. Sridhar, SGM, NDDB and Shri Ishwarbhai Prajapati, Block Resource Coordinator, Anand were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shah emphasised the importance of balanced nutrition rich food with protein, vitamins and essential minerals etc. to mitigate the issue of malnutrition among children. He noted that milk fortified with Vitamins A & D can effectively address micronutrient deficiencies among children. The Giftmilk Programme, implemented by NFN since August 2016 with CSR support from NDDB’s wholly owned subsidiary IDMC Limited, currently benefits over 3,500 children across more than 22 schools. With the latest expansion, an additional 2,550 children across 18 government schools in Anklav and Borsad taluka will benefit. Sharing encouraging outcomes from similar interventions — including improvements in growth parameters and school attendance — he mentioned that through NFN, nearly 1.5 lakh children across the country are provided with milk everyday. Milk supplied by @DairyAmul , fortified with Vitamins A & D and essential micronutrients, will support children’s growth, immunity and learning outcomes. The programme will continue to expand as resources grow, reinforcing the shared social responsibility of addressing child malnutrition. The dignitaries also undertook tree plantation at the school, underscoring the message of health, sustainability and community participation.

The Board apprised Dr. Shah of the current status of the federation, ongoing & proposed infrastructure development initiatives and future plans. The discussions primarily focused on infrastructure strengthening, improving procurement & production and enhancing overall operational efficiency. NDDB shared updates on the ERP implementation for Himachal Pradesh and its deployment roadmap. Dr Shah advised the Board on pricing systems and strategic measures to further strengthen procurement and production, assured training assistance and reiterated NDDB’s continued support to the federation, highlighting the commitment to farmer welfare and cooperative strength. The meeting was held in the backdrop of an exposure visit organised by NDDB for the delegation, aimed at providing a first-hand understanding of dairy cooperative development initiatives, institutional frameworks and value chain interventions. During the visit, the delegation visited Parikrama, @IDMCLtd , @NDDB_Calf_25 , the NDDB fodder demonstration unit and @DairyAmul units. They are also scheduled to visit Mujkuva Dairy Cooperative Society, NDDB’s field interventions at Mujkuva and NDDB's OPU-IVF Lab.
