'Blue Heron' is the most acclaimed film of 2026, and director Sophy Romvari says its existence can be credited to grants provided by the Canadian government at both the script and production stages. “I really did make exactly the movie I wanted to make.... When I started making work in Canada, I was not aware of the privilege of living in a country that has access to arts funding.
