New wildfires are burning across Europe this week. Red Cross volunteers are on the ground responding to whatever is needed - from emergency shelter and basic supplies to care for the firefighters battling the flames. In Spain, displaced people have been relocated to safe spaces. In Greece, volunteers have been distributing water, food, eye drops to relieve smoke irritation and gels to treat minor burns. 👇

Relentless rainfall has caused severe flooding and landslides across Bangladesh, claiming lives, displacing thousands, and damaging homes and farmland. The @BDRCS1 working together with @IFRC and partners, has mobilized volunteers to provide search and rescue, first aid, emergency food, evacuation support, and early warning to help communities affected by this growing emergency.

The First Aid World Cup 2026, co-organized by the IFRC and @dihad, is made up of three different challenges. In the third challenge, teams present a campaign that raises awareness of First Aid and advocates for expanded access to training, supporting the First Aid Vision and Policy 2030.

In the second challenge of the First Aid World Cup 2026, teams from across the Red Cross Red Crescent network design, present and execute a comprehensive rapid response plan for specified first aid and resuscitation emergency scenarios.

The First Aid World Cup 2026 is underway. At the heart of the @IFRC's First Aid Vision 2030 is a simple ambition: ensuring that at least one person is trained in first aid in every home, workplace and school worldwide. Together with @dihad, the IFRC is bringing this vision to life through the First Aid World Cup 2026, gathering 162 teams from 85 National Societies to showcase life-saving skills, innovation and community leadership. On June 24th, twin earthquakes hit Venezuela, and in the weeks since the healthcare system has been overwhelmed with need. Claudia Hammond from @BBCWorld speaks with @IFRC representative Paolo Cravero to learn more about the latest health updates on the ground in Caracas, and what is being done to fill the growing gaps in care.

A fleet of 18 vehicles is on its way to strengthen the IFRC's Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dedicated to Safe and Dignified Burial operations, the fleet includes specially equipped vehicles designed to support infection prevention and control, helping trained DRC Red Cross @croix_rouge_rdc teams safely reduce the risk of Ebola transmission while ensuring every person is treated with dignity and respect. Airlifted to Uganda before continuing overland to Bunia, the vehicles will rapidly reinforce the response where they are needed most.

Thousands of people remain displaced following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela. Together, the Venezuelan Red Cross @CruzRojaVe and the @IFRC are delivering essential relief to families who have lost their homes, while providing healthcare, safe water, psychosocial support and other critical assistance. Together with the @CruzRojaVe, the @CruzRojaEsp, the @cruzrojacol , the @ArubaCross and other Red Cross partners, we're expanding access to essential health services for communities affected in La Guaira. From a fixed emergency clinic in Macuto to mobile health teams reaching shelters and hard-to-access areas, our response includes primary health care, maternal and child health services, vaccination campaigns, health and hygiene promotion, and disease surveillance. Community action is at the heart of every Red Cross response. By strengthening local capacity today, we're helping communities stay healthier and better prepared for future outbreaks.

After days of travelling through extreme heat to escape conflict, Bintou and her nine daughters found their first moment of safety at a humanitarian service point supported by the IFRC and run by the Mauritanian Red Crescent. These frontline service points are providing newly arrived Malian refugees with water, hot meals, healthcare, psychological support and a safe place to rest before they begin rebuilding their lives.
