"Formal" education isn't a requirement for a "good" IGG, says Andrew Hochreiter, MEd, MIS. He says @IGGABorg is looking at a group of core competencies for an exam that would assess the skills needed to meet the proposed standards, even without a degree.

The standards, published April 30, specify what an Accredited Investigative Genetic Genealogist (AIGG) shall do to be considered competent and ethical.

This is a reminder that the public comment period for the Investigative Genetic Genealogy Professional Standards and Requirements is still open. If you haven’t yet had a chance to review the Draft Standard and respond to the survey you are encouraged to do so by May 30th.
