This semester, @UAkron students in the Museums and Archives Studies and Public Humanities Certificate Programs will develop an exhibit around this collection, marking the first time it has been publicly exhibited since 1984. Save the date for the opening reception, Tuesday May 7!

The Institute has recently accepted the Charles and Lucy Voris Baird Collection of Southeast Asian Art! Donated to @UAkron in 1939, the collection contains pieces from China, Japan, and Thailand, including porcelain, leather shadow puppets, and prints by the master Hokusai.

“Dagwanoenyent” by Peter B. Jones depicts the Haudenosaunee myth of the cannibal flying head, connecting that spirit’s ravenous appetites to the ongoing epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Jones’ new exhibit "O-bit-u-ary" is on view now in the Institute galleries.

The National Museum of Psychology and @IHSCulture galleries will be closed tomorrow, January 19. The Akron area is anticipating a significant winter storm and all University of Akron campuses will be closed.
