Seems like most people against high speed rail in Canada assume that everyone will ride it for free. And they also appear to assume that there will be no economic or environmental spinoff. We never hear them complain about building more highways or bridges.

@MikeTheNavyGuy1 Neither projects have a national interest. Government lack of a clear path and investment left is why the government put money in a half finished pipeline. Not one investor has come forward willing to build a high speed train because there is no sound business plan for it

@TheChaosWeeber It’s funny that you who think it’s a great idea don’t have money to build it. I just retired and one thing I learned over 45 years is don’t spend money foolishly if you don’t have it. Our Country is carrying huge deficits and we don’t have the cash.

I despise wha Pierre has done to the high speed rail debate in Canada. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue. It’s a project that will change Canada for the better. Majority of those opposed have never even used high speed rail before. Video from Shinkansen in February

I just came back from a trip to Japan. The Japanese could figure out how to provide their citizens high speed rail. There’s no reason why we can’t. Don’t let Pierre Poilievre deny Canadians high speed rail. If we need help and advice from the Japanese, let’s get it.

So, a bunch of RW folks don't like the high speed rail idea. You know why? Because Poilievre didn't suggest it. If he did, they'd be all over it. They whine that nothing gets built, then want to prevent things from being built. They're absolutely obsessed with a pipeline that wouldn't do a damn thing for them. Nothing else is worth building apparently... Hilarious.
