IIPC Sydney just wrapped up an inspiring meeting with Mr. Joseph Taouk, the managing director of Waste Circology. This company is specializing in innovative waste solutions. We explored their impressive Organic Carbonisation System (OCN)—a low-emission technology that transforms organic solid waste into a rich char-carbon compound. This innovation not only reduces the need for fertilizers but also boosts agricultural productivity, especially in marginal soils. This technology could be a very bright solution for big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, that produces up to 8.000 tons waste per day🗑️ IIPC Sydney will gladly take part of this collaboration to support sustainable solutions for a greener future! 🌏♻️

IIPC Sydney had an insightful experience of visiting Sugar Research Australia (SRA) in Cairns, Queensland, with several government officials, including the Deputy Minister of Investment Controlling from the Ministry of Investment, the Head of the Agricultural Instrument Standardization Agency from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Director of Plant Quarantine Risk Management from the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, and representatives from PT Global Papua Abadi (GPA). During the visit, the SRA teams explained their core activities, which include research investment and delivery, industry services, and various sugarcane development initiatives. We also had the opportunity to observe sugarcane plantations and learn about the entire process, starting from harvesting to transporting the sugarcane to the processing factory. Some of these plantations also serve as the basis for research and development of sugarcane plants by SRA. In relations to the sugar estate development in Merauke, SRA will be a supplier of superior sugarcane seeds to be planted in Merauke. These seeds were developed and tested in Australia so they are expected to have high levels of durability and production when planted in Merauke.
