The Election Commission of India has deleted a total of 90.66 lakh voter names in West Bengal during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. According to the latest data, 58.2 lakh names were removed during the first phase of the SIR in December 2025. An additional 5.46 lakh names were deleted between the draft and final lists released in February 2026. In the most recent second phase, which concluded today, judicial officers adjudicated over 60 lakh cases, resulting in the deletion of another 27 lakh names. India Today correspondent @iindrojit reported that this unprecedented scale of deletion emerged following a high-stakes Supreme Court hearing regarding the process. Sorry your Lordship, EVERY Indian citizen has a right to vote in EVERY election and the @ECISVEEP is duty bound to ensure that .
