We've now hit the true setup for the show. Quite on the nose, but it's got the theatrics to sell a shameless subversion of The Little Mermaid. Apt for an episode that underlines the separation of their worlds to emphasize how Mari reaches out, saving her in more ways than one

At the same time, Moaang's ED demonstrates that materials & trends aren't insurmountable walls. It embraces the idiosyncrasies of the digital era, but doesn't feel out of place within Sayonara Lara's nostalgic look because it meets its level of stylization from a different angle

The precise balance of old & new lets it get away with a handful of actual cel shots. The show itself pulls nifty tricks like occasionally adding shadows between character layers & BGs to emulate the physical dimension, but the real thing hits different x.com/Goodbye_Lara/s…

Sayonara Lara's opening is lovely. Glamorous gathering of star animators, but Koide doesn't betray the show's vibe for excessive bombast. Instead, it's a cheery extension of its WMT-esque feeling with a moderate dash of in-vogue OP techniques, like crossfades & photo progressions
