Police officers are about to lose their jobs for calling federal immigration agents during traffic stops. In Detroit, the police chief announced plans to fire a police officer and a sergeant after they contacted federal immigration authorities during separate routine stops. Department leadership says the officers violated internal policy by reaching out to federal agents without authorization. The chief made it clear: local officers are not to act as federal immigration enforcement. Should officers be fired for contacting federal immigration authorities
