Richard Carrington of @haverfordmlax walks us through the 4v4 +1 Keepaway Drill. This drill is all about creating advantages, making quick decisions, and recognizing when you’ve won the rep. Great practice for teams to shrink or expand their space, adjust the defensive pressure, and meet your players where they are, challenging them to level up. A powerful reminder from Scott Hackett-Dalgliesh of @rpimlax that real growth comes from the questions you’re willing to ask. Not everything has to be complex to be effective. Sometimes the edge is in doing the basics, but better, longer and more intentionally. The best coaches challenge their thinking: ➡️ How can we be more efficient? ➡️ What’s frustrating us, and why? ➡️ Are we training habits we actually want to see in games? What you emphasize in practice eventually shows up under pressure. So keep it simple, stay intentional, and question everything.

A great reminder from IMLCA founder Richie Meade that being a coach isn’t really so much about strategy as much as it is about energy, influence, and the long-term impact you leave on your players. The lessons that last a lifetime often come from the coaches who invested more than what was required: the ones who stayed after practice, listened, and truly cared for their players. Great coaches don’t just teach the game. They care about and invest in the people playing it. #CoachesHelpingCoaches #IMLCAcoaches

In this whiteboard drill, Peter Dolan of @ionamlax walks us through the Gael Transition, where teams work through real game scenarios with quick exits, broken plays, and fast decision-making. By creating immediate 6v5 and 4v3 situations, players are forced to react, communicate, and capitalize on early opportunities in transition. A great drill to reinforce turning a faceoff win into real offensive momentum. #WhiteBoardWednesday #IMLCAcoaches

Cole Pecora of @umassmlax stresses the importance of perspective when it comes to recruiting. For young coaches on the road, that often means being the one who spots talent others haven’t seen yet, whether that's the player at a smaller event, the athlete in a non-traditional hotbed, or the “diamond in the rough” that hasn’t hit the radar yet. But most importantly, recruiting is about showing up, watching closely, and building an eye for talent. Because when your staff asks “who’s next?”, the best recruiters are the ones who already have their answer ready. #IMLCAcoachessummit

Growth often comes from being in the right place at the right time, and having the awareness to notice it. John Tillman of @terpsmlax reminds us to surround ourselves with people who inspire us, stay humble, and stay open to learning from every experience. Over time those lessons add up, slowly shaping us into our best self. #HallofFameFriday #IMLCAHOF

Mike Terranova of walks us through the Faceoff Octagon Drill. 2 faceoff players + wings closer to the action = faster reactions, more reps, and higher intensity. ☑️ The perfect practice for maximizing engagement on every ground ball in a controlled, high-energy environment. “Do the right thing. The right way.” Mike Murphy of @harlem_lacrosse emphasizes that integrity isn’t situational, and winning isn’t worth it if you sacrifice who you are to get there. In a culture obsessed with championships, it’s easy to drift, justify cutting corners, and chase the title instead of building your people. But a championship doesn’t change you nearly as much as the relationships built along the way. Win with integrity. And never lose sight of why you started. #IMLCACoachesSummit

No successful program is built alone. Kevin Corrigan of @ndlacrosse candidly shares how behind every steady team is a group of dedicated coaches who stay through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Some stick around for decades, some return in new roles, and some grow alongside the program from day one. They share the load, teach, and help shape the culture. And they deserve every bit recognition for it. #IMLCAHOF #HallOfFameFriday

We sat down with Brad Jorgensen of Saint Leo University, who shared his advice for young coaches. ⬇️ Get involved❗️ Whether it's joining a committee or volunteering for the “extra” work, be part of the conversations that shape the game. What feels like added time and effort now can completely change your perspective, and your career. You’ll build meaningful relationships, grow your understanding of lacrosse, and connect with people who care just as deeply as you do. #GetInvolved #IMLCA

Short drill teaser by Sam Jones of @marlinlacrosse - Rambo 3v3 Riding and Clearing Drill. Designed to build habits that translate directly to games, this drill forces players to compete for ground balls, make quick decisions off the pickup, space properly in 3v3, push transition when it’s there, and sprint back to get balanced when it’s not. Rambo 3v3 is fun, fast, and competitive. Perfect for enforcing game-ready habits. Watch whole drill here - imlcacoaches.com/media-entry/ra…

Jim Mitchell of @princetonlax walks us through this downhill drill that helps build decision-making under pressure. Starting from a 4v2, defenders are then added to create friction and make it more game-like. Players work picks, quick passing, and finishing while reading collapsing defenses and processing top-down feeds. A great drill for early-possession reps that train players to see it, read it, and react fast. For more drills and demos, visit imlcacoaches.com

The real legacy of coaching is impact. At the wedding of a lacrosse legend, John Danowski remembers that not a single person talked about championships. For the former players, lacrosse was never about wins, trophies or stats. It was about being held accountable, getting pushed, and becoming part of something bigger than themselves. Years later, what leaves a lasting impact is the standard set. #HOFfriday #IMLCAHOF

Perfect for players who want to think faster and play smarter, this half-field drill sharpens decision-making, ball-handling, riding, and clearing skills. Quick transitions, 4-on-3 play, and constant action help ensure every rep in the 77 Drill counts #WhiteBoardWednesday #imlca
