Record solar generation is a significant milestone for the UK’s energy mix. The focus now must be on storage, grid capacity, and long-term resilience to ensure reliability alongside sustainability. #EnergyPolicy

Wind is proving its value in the UK’s energy mix. The real challenge now is storage, grid capacity, and reliability during low-wind periods. A balanced, resilient system still matters.

Britain’s increased investment in wind and solar is clearly improving energy resilience — but insulation from shocks isn’t the same as long-term security. The next phase must focus on: • Grid capacity & storage • Industrial energy costs • Strategic resilience beyond weather-dependent supply Progress - but not mission complete.
Ember@ember_energy

Britain is now better insulated from gas price shocks than it was during the 2021–2023 energy crisis thanks to a buildout of solar and wind – which helped cut gas generation 🧵 ember-energy.org/latest-insight…

@ember_energy Important progress - especially after the 2021–23 shock. Key question now: How do we ensure reliability during low wind / low sun periods without reverting back to gas dependency? Storage and grid flexibility will define the next phase.

@resfoundation @charliemccurdy The gap between desired and actual family size should be a major policy concern. It points to structural barriers - particularly housing, childcare, and income security. Addressing declining birth rates starts with addressing living standards.

@UNDP Absolutely - access to water unlocks time, safety, and opportunity. It’s one of the most effective but often overlooked policy levers for improving education and economic participation.

Access to clean water is not just a development issue — it’s a foundation for equality, productivity, and long-term economic growth. Smart policy must treat water infrastructure as a core investment, not a secondary priority. #WaterSecurity #GlobalDevelopment #PolicyMatters

Access to safe water remains one of the defining development challenges of our time. The priority now is not awareness, but delivery - sustainable infrastructure, effective governance, and long-term resilience. @UNDP @UNWater @WHO @WorldBank #WaterSecurity #GlobalDevelopment #SDGs #PublicPolicy

What if getting a glass of water meant walking for miles? For some women and girls, the day begins with a journey. Not to school or work, but to find water. Access to safe drinking water is imperative: go.undp.org/SNV

@resfoundation Important to see the interaction between wage policy and wider economic pressures. What evidence are we seeing so far on sector-level impacts, particularly in hospitality and care?

New minimum wage rates come into effect today. This will help to boost low-paid workers as the conflict in the Middle Easr pushes up cost of living pressures.
