মনরেগা কেবল একটি কর্মসংস্থান প্রকল্প নয়, এটি কোটি কোটি গ্রামীণ মানুষের জীবনধারার সহায়ক, দারিদ্র্য হ্রাসের হাতিয়ার, এবং গ্রামীণ নারীর ক্ষমতায়নের প্রতীক।

এই আইনের মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল প্রতিটি গ্রামীণ পরিবারের প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক সদস্যদের জন্য বছরে ১০০ দিনের নিশ্চয়তাপূর্ণ মজুরিভিত্তিক কর্মসংস্থান প্রদান করা।

We, at INTUC West Bengal and INTUC National as a whole, are indeed indebted to the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Smt Sonia Gandhi and the entire UPA-I government for introducing such an innovative and effective policy,
