I am heavily into conservation, with years of experience but do not pretend to know more than the RSPB. They clearly state the risk of disease and for hygiene. I comply with that. I monitor the birds in the garden daily and the first sign of any issues, I would stop. I think many people are increasing vigilance and washing feeders more frequently. It takes minutes.

@JasperManUtd I got told off several times for feeding birds during spring and summer. I don't know whether that was good advice or not. But I do wish there were more birds and bees around my home, it's not near large roads but it's so quiet for plants and animals. :(

This is part of a difficult problem; the vast majority of people will take no action and expect "the council", "community service" or the magic litter fairies to deal with issues; a tiny, tiny fraction of society will take ownership and do something.

I think we either adapt to these things or we get into a very difficult place. There are plenty of people with more challenges than me that have immensely more fulfilling lives and I try to remember that.

Hospital appointment this morning and after nine months, it's back into a solid cast next week. They wanted to do it on the spot but I couldn't quite deal with that in the moment.
I guess it was nice while it lasted.
