It was a privilege to witness the official launch of Tamini General Insurance by H.E @KagutaMuseveni. The entry of Tamini General Insurance in the Ugandan market means no one will be left behind as the insurer will offer Takaful insurance which is not interest-based.

This year we will be holding the 6th edition. Plan to be part of it.

Claims management remains the ultimate test of insurance credibility; fraudulent claims are not only eroding trust in the industry but they are increasing the operational costs, reducing efficiency, and ultimately disadvantage the policyholders/customers we are serving. This is the kind of conversation I had with the insurance industry CEOs during the Breakfast Meeting. Fighting fraud is a collective responsibility.

I had an interaction with members of the @USSIAssociation These enterprises are not a side story in Uganda’s economy; they are the story. They account for the majority of businesses in our country, provide livelihoods to millions of Ugandans, and are central to our national aspirations under Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan. We need to power their growth with insurance.

The market is watching.

Mr. Alexander Mukasa, the Head of Sanlam Allianz Life Assurance paid me a courtesy visit this afternoon. His was to gain a clearer understanding of the regulator’s expectations regarding the new formation, Sanlam Allianz Life, and to explore avenues for effective collaboration as stakeholders within the insurance industry.

I had a privilege of representing my CEO at the opening of Olea Insurance Brokers Conference which is going on at Skys Hotel. Olea, having acquired Marsh insurance brokers recently, means bigger responsibilities and so the regulator’s expectations are even bigger. #itispossible

The morning’s Keynote Speaker, Dr. Walusimbi Abdul Hafiz - Dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language and Head of department Shariah at the Islamic University in Uganda, extends his gratitude for all the key players who have put in the effort which has led us to this remarkable milestone. He notes that it’s his pleasure for the opportunity to be the one delivering about Takaful; successes and challenges. “Takaful is now a specialization at Bachelors, Masters & PhD levels. In the General overview that it is with no doubt that there is need to mitigate about the risks that await us the next minute, therefore, this calls for prior planning for emergencies. Before we speak about the future, we cannot ignore how the present looks like. The coming of the Takaful is therefore a celebration to come and address community risks, and it’s an opportunity for variety! It is an alternative to the conventional system & thus offering solutions for the modern day.” He added!

To deliver the opening remarks, our CEO - Alhaj Dr. Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega, notes that this crucial sensitisation & dissemination workshop on the Insurance (Takaful and Retakaful) Regulations, 2025. These Regulations, recently gazetted by the Government of Uganda (@GovUganda) through the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (@mofpedu) in consultation with the IRA, mark a milestone in the evolution of Uganda’s insurance industry. “Today, we gather not just to mark a regulatory milestone, but to open a new chapter in the financial and social fabric of our nation. We are here to witness the birth of an ethical, inclusive, and resilient insurance alternative: Takaful,” he added. Further more, he says that by laying down requirements for licensing, governance, Shari’ah compliance, capital adequacy, and Shari’ahgovernance structures (including the establishment of a Shari’ah Committee for each Takaful operator or window), the Regulations ensure that Takaful business is conducted professionally, transparently, and in a manner that safeguards the interests of participants. #Takaful #RetakafulRegulations

I commend the @ITC_Kampala for its consistent pursuit of excellence and its pivotal role in equipping insurance professionals with current and relevant information to address the rapidly evolving insurance needs of consumers. This is a job well done!

We shall continue to create an enabling regulatory environment for a sustainable, inclusive and reliable insurance industry. This is a great milestone.
