The Ambassador had the honour to receive Mr. Hossam Zaatar, Chamberlain, who conveyed the greetings of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s National Day.

Met children injured by the war today. Their courage is humbling, their suffering unbearable. Civilians, esp. children, must not bear the cost of war. The centre caring for them does extraordinary work. With EU support, children receive care from ER to rehab and mental health.

On Tuesday, the first humanitarian flight arrived in Beirut, bringing 45 tons of emergency supplies from @eu_echo & @UNICEFLebanon for people affected by the conflict. At this critical time in Lebanon, we remain committed to supporting children and families across the country.

Good call with President Joseph Aoun. I expressed Europe’s solidarity with Lebanon and its people. We are providing EUR 100 million in humanitarian support. Yesterday, we delivered over 40 tonnes of supplies and we plan to organise more humanitarian flights. I welcome the government’s decision to ban all Hezbollah military activities and its call to end all hostilities. We must ensure a sovereign and stable Lebanon for its people.

Peacekeepers must never be the target of attacks or intimidation of any kind.

Ministers @HMcEntee and @nealerichmond have announced additional humanitarian support for people in Lebanon. With 700,000 people displaced, Ireland will provide €3m to UN partners to provide shelter, food and vital aid. Read more: ireland.ie/en/irish-aid/n…
